Hi
I seen earlier on in this thread that this fare had gone up considerably.

Using experflyer I see a fare of $2784 for a DONE4 with AB.

I can't get anywhere near this fare with the Oneworld tool. Is there any way to have this ticketed by AB at the $2784 fare?

Thanks.

No.

For those of you still sitting your return segment, now there's another KRT option. According to the forums QR joins in October, so 2x more options now to get to KRT via DOH.

Considering changing my routing... Though hard to turn down the new BA A320 Club World service via AMM now.

I don't think you can add airlines to a xONEx ticket that weren't in the alliance when it was purchased.

Really? Where'd you see that?

I thought that too. But was talking to RTW desk a couple of days ago about changing some flight dates. I asked whether I could take flights on MH although they weren't a OW member when I bought the ticket. He said, yes. I asked him to double check. He came back and said yes.

Now my question - if the YQ on new flights is less than the existing flights, do I get a refund?

Read it in this forum somewhere and asked the question myself.

Probably has something to do with the fare rules which state:

Since your fare rules are valid during the life of your ticket for good and bad, I don't see how you could add QR.

No refund if the fare decreases. That is stated in the fare rules under 11(a)(1) and is one of the many aspects of the oneworld Explorer rules that are written very much in favour of the alliance, rather than the traveller.

I believe joepubli's question was about the difference between the originally charged YQ and that due at the time of a re-issue.

While it is correct that any decrease in fare will not be refunded in case of a re-issue; this is quite different from the re-calcualtion of taxes/fees (including YQ/YR), which can result either in an additional amount to be collected, or a credit to be refunded. In the latter case, the credit has sometimes been more the enough to offset the $125 change fee, and the extra value was refunded to me as an MCO denominated in the currency of my country of origin.

Interesting and good to know.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. This would definitely agree w/ the fare rules. But joepubli seems to have had better results by asking? Obviously MH or QR would have been in the rule, so as it updates, I wonder if their system looks at the current rules when determining (since the code would stay the same)?

It's not clear how they handle rule versioning - once a ticket is issued and the fare rules change do the new ones then apply? Where do they even store the old rules?

JohnAx Aug 23, 2013 7:08 pm

I don't disagree that in the past, airlines that joined OW after the ticket was issued could not be flown. I sense that some of the more knowledgeable agents have left so it may be easier to find one who mistakenly allows it, though.

The flip side, when an airline leaves the alliance, does NOT follow the words in the rules - you can (usually?) not use them after they leave.

Thanks a follow up

Thanks everyone. I am currently in HKG and need to get back soon. I have no stop overs left in Europe/ME but have 3 segments left. I am trying to visit London and perhaps not make it for the last flight to the ME destination.

Q: I have a six hour layover in London before connecting to another BA fight. Would they let me book my luggage just to London - I could be meeting a friend etc. OR would they make me book it all the way to the final stop?

Having travelled most of the way with hand baggage. I stupidly acquired luggage that's too big for carry one. Not huge but too big.
Thanks

I assume you are going to buy a lot of duty free in HKG which you would need to put into your checked luggage? That worked for me in the past.

Does a AONE4 itinerary have to be r/t?

r/t = round trip? That usually means there-and-back so usually isn't applied to 'around the world' such as AONE4. Anyway, with AONE4 (et al) you are supposed to end up approximately where you began. The are at least half a dozen rules defining 'approximately' so perhaps best to ask what you had in mind. [Um, since you asked in this thread I suppose you want to not return to KRT. I can't pontificate, but I recall that it has been discussed up-thread.]
