OW Status on Boarding Passes
IME OW does a good job of recognizing status, even when flying on an alliance partner airline and not on your "home" carrier, by printing your status on the boarding passes. This has been the case when I was with QF and flew on AA, AY, BA, and IB. I think I even remember it with LA.
I have switched to earning with AA, and last weekend's flights on LA didn't show my status, and I even had to delete my FF# on the web check-in page as LAN's system said it wasn't a valid number; I deleted it there, but the number still appeared on my BP, just not the OW designation of Ruby, Emerald or Sapphire. It got me wondering how your experiences have been in this area? Are there any OW airlines that do not automatically recognize status from another?
Thanks!

Status, no but mileage-earning, yes. Whenever I do RTW tickets that include QF legs, the AA number, status etc. always prints on the boarding pass; however, the miles never, ever credit automatically. No amount of discussion with check-in agents, writing to AA/QF (neither of whom could be bothered to even reply) has been able to fix the problem. It's not a problem with CX, BA or AY (and I have no experience with IB or LA and only limited experience with JL).
If I book a ticket on the QF website, it always refuses to accept my AA number, insisting that it's not valid. I've learnt to make the reservation without it and then go back in and add it in, which seems to work.

Not sure why your not earning miles automatically though. My partner is an EXP and has never had to retro-credit a single flight! In fact the flights seem to be crediting very quickly these days.

Is this on RTW tickets? I usually have no problems with QF tickets (once I manage to get the AA number in there) but RTW tickets (usually issued by AA) never, ever post QF flights automatically. I think the issue is that there are at least 2 IATA-designated fields, one for FF status and one for mileage credit - I assume the mileage-credit field isn't being populated properly when the QF part of the record is created. However, I don't really know why it happens but I can guarantee, based on several years' experience, that my QF flights on RTW tickets won't post.

Occasionally, reservation systems of different member airlines within an alliance don't "talk" to each other properly - leading to wrong or lack of information being shown. With Star Alliance, I sometimes find LH not recognizing my *G status, i.e. they show UAP (which indicates the UA FFP has been entered but they cannot identify status / general member) instead of UA*G.

Slightly off topic, but a few years ago I was flying US and I couldn't figure out why the BP wasn't showing my Star Silver status. Turned out I'd accidentally typed in one too many numbers when entering it on the website! I had to have the lounge agent fix it for me.
As to the OP, when I last flew LAN (five years ago) the BPs showed my OW Sapphire status.

I find that AA never ever put my QF status in unless I check in at a counter.
When using the machine status is not shown on the boarding pass.
There have been times where I get my boarding pass from the counter and the attendant had to reprint the ticket because the system didn't recognise status.

In my experience with LA, they have always put "Preferente" on my boarding passes since I became gold, except on my most recent trip ~2 months ago. I thought it was an error, but it happened in both directions and with the OPs experience it's starting to look like a new policy. I had to show my QFF card at the lounge, despite it being present in my reservation. Miles posted without a problem.

I have just flown LGW-BDA in F along with my partner. We are both BA Gold and AA ExecPlat. I entered my AA FF# on the BA site; my partner her BA FF#. My boarding pass didn't show any elite status, not Emerald, nor ExecPlat; my partner's correctly showed BA Gold status.

With my QF status, if the FF number only (not status) appears on a BA BP, the miles don't post automatically in my QF FF account whereas if the status and number appear on the BA BP, the miles do post correctly.

As a follow-up, my miles from LA flights on Friday and Sunday posted to my AA account yesterday (Wednesday) automatically even though status wasn't indicated. I got all the bonuses (premium cabin and Gold), too. Just no status on the BP.
Looks like having status appear across OW airlines is becoming a thing of the past.
