Help needed: RTW next september

This would be my first RTW and I would like to choose OW economy class.
Departure point CDG, FRA or MXP (I will arrive in europe with AA flight, but I have not yet decided the departure point for the RTW so I will enter XXX as starting point) and my temptative routing will be XXX-HEL-BKK-SIN-HKG-PVG-NRT-HNL-LAX-DFW-ORD-MIA-JFK-XXX

My concern is to choose the cheapest option for this routing using one of these fares that are similarly priced at 2049 EUR plus tax for each one of the departure countries (I am not familiar with the rules governing each one of these 3 fares):
1) Circle Trip Explorer - 3 continent
2) oneworld Explorer - 3 continent
3) Global Explorer < 26,000 miles

I am AA PLT so I would like to accrue miles on AA, but some leg are on CX (BKK-SIN-HKG-PVG) or JL (PVG-NRT) and with these carriers no AA miles with L booking class.

Now my questions:
-are there any AA codeshare flights in order to accrue AA miles on the most part of the segments?
-how I could maximize the mileage changing the routings in the US or adding any other segment (SEA or YVR or ANC)?
-Are there any other slightly expensive options in economy class in order to increase the mileage on AA?

I could also change the original routing if you could give me some other good option.@:-)
Thanks in advance for the help and your suggestions.

You can find the rules for all of these fares on the oneworld site.

A Circle Trip Explorer ticket excludes North and South America and must include Africa, so won't work for what you are trying to do.

A Global Explorer is mileage-based whereas a oneworld Explorer is continent-based. As a result, you can usually get far more mileage out of a oneworld Explorer than a Global Explorer. The only advantage to a Global Explorer ticket is that it permits use of codeshare flights on certain non-oneworld airlines, that a oneworld Explorer does not. However, unless you have need of those airlines (which you probably do not), then a oneworld Explorer would be better.

As for starting points, a three-continent oneworld Explorer ticket in economy is about the same price starting in the UK (LHR)(L1,779) as it is out of CDG, FRA or MXP (E2,049).

You can find the general oneworld Explorer rules on the oneworld site, including the specific rules here.

As for mileage-earning in the U.S., including ANC (summer service only) would certainly increase the miles. You are allowed only one trans-con flight (e.g., LAX-JFK) but that would also increase the miles - it really depends on where you want to go.

You can also pay a surcharge to upgrade to Premium Economy on certain QF and BA flights (and JL), in order to get full AA-earning miles. That would most likely apply to flights from LHR to BKK or SIN. The lack of miles on CX is a problem that is difficult to get around. JL flights should earn 70% of the miles.

Some additional points to consider as you begin to plan:

1. Settle on your starting city first. Since fares from each European city are comparable you will want to consider positioning costs and the airlines that serve your starting point to Helsinki. The first airline used usually determines who issues the ticket and there are some consrquences to this, explained at length in previous threads.
2. Decide what cities are absolute musts on your itinerary. Can any be dropped for other routings that increase miles/minimize segments?
3. Remember the maximum number of segments, both overall and per continent for the ciontinent based tickets. You are below the overall max of 16 now.
4. If a primary consideration is miles and you have the time, consider adding another continent to swing through Latin America from LAX.

The one world site and the stickys in this forum will help considerably.

Planning the trip is one of the pleasures derived from these type tickets. Enjoy!

Does this mean you are expecting or may have some knowledge of a price increase effective May1 or something else?

I wondered about that as well. Or maybe Bukhara is unaware that the high/low seasonal price differentiation for LONEx fares has been eliminated?

Thanks, although I don't think Korea is all that much of a favorite anymore due to the last couple of increases.
