Canadian Carriers in OneWorld ?

Given that Oneworld is based in Canada it's a little annoying that they haven't had a Canadian presence since Canadian Airlines were bought out by Air Canada. Obviously other than AC we only have regional (WestJet and Porter Airlines) and budget/tourism (Air Transat) carriers. I was wondering if there has been any talk of some of these joining Oneworld? Particularly WestJet as by adding 1-2 more routes (say year round service to San Fransisco) it could help with the lacking coverage in the Western USA & especially in Canada.

but WestJet is a LCC and LCC and alliance don't mix.

They don't want to pay for interconnecting IT systems, baggage transfer, provide lounges, pay for reciprocal lounge access.

Aer Lingus (EI) left oneworld in 2007 as it turned into an LCC to better compete with RyanAir (FR), then got partially bought by FR

And I think OW has bigger holes to plug than Canada. Yes, if there would be an obvious candidate than it would be great if that carrier would join OW but unfortunately there is none.

If USA and Canada sign up Open Sky and break the barrier for carriers like EU did, you do not need another Canada carrier. You will be served by CO, DL and AA. But I bet Canada government would not sign up such agreement in a short notice as they need to protect AC.

Yet, BA, CX and AA were courting WJ. There is already a corporate sales agreement between WJ and OW.

WJ is already switching to Sabre on their own.

Which the current CEO believes was a mistake as he is looking to realign with an alliance... most likely Star.

In the above post are you referring Air Labrador (WJ) or to WestJet (WS)...or some other airline?
