Award Redemption Fee on NW But not DL

I was just looking to book a last minute domesti RT on DL for 2 days from now.

nwa.com wanted a $75 redemption fee, while delta.com demanded no such fee. I'm silver on NW, and nobody on DL.

Any idea why? I though NW implemented the fee to match DL.

Welcome to DL, where the fees are plenty and elite recognition few (especially since we'll all be plats soon with the MQM promos).

Do you have the Amex Delta Plat or Reserve card? The fee is waived for cardholders.

Yes, I do have a Delta Platinum Amex. That explains it.

Any other benefits I should know about with that card? (I've had the card for a few years even though I've always accumulated my miles in my WP account.)

The partner award fee waiver is the only other recent change I can think of https://www.delta.com/skymiles/use_m...fees/index.jsp

I am about to book two tickets. The redemption fee comes to $150. The upgrade to the Delta Reserve is $150. sounds like a wash. But, I am guessing the upgrade is not immediate if I did it and who knows when it would show in the Delta system?

Any thoughts?
