Streamlined Skyteam checkin?
On NWA.com, and in Worldtraveller magazine, it says that due to Skyteam, passengers have the chance for seamless one-time check-in... so using this as an example./...
I'll be flying 19 Dec.
STC-Saint Cloud->MSP-Minneapolis->Los Angeles with NW and then connecting to KE,, I know that they can check bags all the way through, but can NW access my KE Itn. and check me in all the way.. STC->MSP->ICN????

It should be doable.
I'm presuming you booked the itineraries separately.
Whether or not they can access them, if you have the printed itinerary (or better still, OLCI'ed boarding passes) for the continuing flight, they should be able to tag the bag to continue.

I haven't booked yet,, just looking to see if it works ....its cheaper to book them separate....
I know about the checking of the bags,
I need to know if NW can issue the BP fo
KE LAX-ICN at STC, so i dont have to rush to the
KE Counter in LAX
the MSP flight arrives in LAX at ca. 8:55am
and the KE flight lifts off at 11:05 am and
have to be onboard by 10:30-10:50....
and on another note.. KE doesn't have OLCI capability!

NW and KE should be seamless. However, when flying on NW and transferring to SU (and vice versa), they can't check you in all the way through. Luggage is no problem, but boarding passes have to be issued at the embarkation airport for the next carrier. Nothing seamless about that.

So then, are you saying.. that even if its two tickets.. If I show NW my KE Itn#, they could check me in?

As long as you're checking in less than 24 hours before the KE flight, I think it should work. I know on long itineraries, they've been unable to give me BP's for partner connecting flights that left more than 24 hours after I was checking in.

Maybe - note though that if you book two separate tickets and something goes wrong, it's on you, not the airline. E.g. if NW flight is canceled or delayed, it's not their responsibility to get you to wherever KE was taking you, and KE may assess you change fees which could be very substantial. Whereas if it's one ticket, and NW is running late, if that causes you to miss your KE connection it's NW's problem and they will take responsibility for getting you to your final destination (either on KE, or another carrier).

BIMMERKID2, I have no idea if it's possible or not. Here's what I do know: even if it IS possible, you have a very good chance of dealing with check-in staff who either don't know how to do it, don't want to do it because it's more work, or can't do it because of some unforeseen computer glitch or datalink being temporarily down. IMHO, when you are interlining between carriers that you know aren't that well integrated you HAVE to assume that you aren't going to be able to be checked in all the way.
Even between NW and KL, a transfer I've seamlessly done more times than I care to count over the past decade, I've still had to occasionally pick up boarding cards at the transfer desk in AMS or WorldClub in DTW/MEM/MSP.

I've never been able to get NW to give me boarding passes for anyone other than KL.
If you're in business class leaving LAX on KE you should have no problems, if you're in coach, well then your connection is REALLY tight because of the terrible lines at TBIT for security. Business and First class can skip the line, they have a dedicated line, though you may have to ask around to find it, its not well marked.

This has been my experience in the past. You will need to head over to Tom Bradley to check in with KE when you arrive at LAX. NW may be able to check your bags to ICN, but will not issue a KE boarding pass. You wouldn't have this problem if you were on ONE ticket.

Re-reading your post, I now see that you are traveling on two separate tickets, sorry for missing it the first time. The answer is undoubtedly NO, you will not be able to get through-checkin on two separate tickets, not on SkyTeam.

Yep, I missed it too. With two separate tickets, your chances of being able to check in the whole way drop fairly precipitously...
