Intra-europe upgrade availability and fare code

So I am planning one of my few international trips ... I only have enough fares to upgrade one way over the ocean. But I think I may have 10,000 to burn on upgrading the connection after jumping the pond.

What is the lowest upgradeable fare class? (NW code or KL code?) And is it a long shot?

I'm pretty sure it's worth it, seeing as I'll be pooped after the long flight and will be glad to have the few extra inches.

NW doesn't operate flights in Europe, that's KL.

Extra inches? You might want to spend some time in the KL forum. Do a search for "Europe Select". In short, there are no "extra inches". In fact, the likelihood is that you'd be crammed into the same 3x3 seats with more people than if you were in Y. It's hilarious to board a plane with a Y cabin that's half full when C is packed to the gills. On two occasions I have moved behind the curtain on my own in order to have an empty seat next to me.

But at least you'll get a salad with that butter & chive sandwich!
