Checked luggage?

Friends of mine are flying MSP-DTW-NRT-ICN on NWA of course and back ICN-NRT-SFO-MSP I know on the way back they are going to have to get their luggage @ SFO and go thru customs, but my ? in on the NRT-ICN stops do they have to get the luggage in NRT and do the customs thing there (they are not leaving the airport) or can it be checked all the way thru to ICN?

Thanks

If they are not leaving NRT they will not have to recover their checked bags and go thru customs at NRT. The only "formality" that will take place at NRT is re-screening prior to entering the departure area for the connecting flight. Upon arrival at NRT, in either direction, just follow the signs for "connections".
