I signed up with WorldPerks recently after taking on a project in Malaysia that will involve a fair bit of flying on MAS.

I flew 2 weeks ago, SIN-KCH, and don't see any miles credited online. Am I mistaken that MH flights credit to WorldPerks? Or is it normal that it is so slow. I looked up the archives and someone mentioned domestic MH flights crediting within 3 days... but I'm not sure if things have changed since.

I looked up the WorldPerks site regarding missing mileage requests, and it seems that the only way to make requests for non-NW flights is to mail in copies of the ticket and boarding pass. Is that right? That's really slow isn't it? Do they accept faxes?

(2) I don't know about that one, but I have had KL flights ex: Europe take a good week, close to two.

(3) That is right -- whether it is slow, well, it's the norm for partner flights in most programs, afaik.

I hope you realize that "Only tickets that have a Northwest code (NW flight number) will count towards your Elite status." You will still earn mileage on non-code shared MH flights, but it won't count toward elite status.

Yep, am aware of the lack of status, but don't really care. I fly SQ almost exclusively, and in Asia SQ/*A status goes farther than Worldperks. Just want to accumulate the miles somewhere!

Searching only brought this old thread up.

I had MH flights on Jan 28 and Feb 5. Both times I made sure my NW was in. No miles have posted yet. I know no EQMs on these flights.
Do they take so long to post?
Should I take further action? Do you mail in the boarding passes or can you copy them and fax them into WP?

Go ahead and fax a brief cover letter and copies of the BPs to the elite fax line. They should post within one business day.

Before sending in anything, check to make sure the fare class you booked on MH is not G, L or V. These 3 classes do not qualify for WP miles.
Also, domestic flight (within Malaysia) is not mileage qualifying as well.

When I used to fly MH between LAX and SIN, I had a couple of problems with MH depositing miles into the NW's account. Took a lot of phone calls and letters to get those miles. First time, they said certain ticket fares were not valid, but I printed off the website which did not indicate such (I said, now that was false marketing!). Second time, I submitted the boarding passes (and made copies for myself) to MA's office in SIN, and weeks later still no miles. In this instance, the MH csr in LA literally said too bad someone in KUL was slacking. Nothing he could do in the absence of real boarding passes (photocopies did not count).

In both instances, I wrote a strong letter to MH's LA office and made sure they saw that I had put cc to Department of Consumer Affairs, California at the bottom of the letter. Boom..voila...2 weeks later, the miles that they initally stated they couldn't give me appeared in my NW's account!

The point is that you have to be persistent with MH. Their cabin services are excellent but everything else moved real slow and sloppy sometimes.

I will offend many with this post, but hear me out.

Laziness is the rule of thumb b'cos their jobs are almost guaranteed till retirement. As a Malaysian ex-pat living in the US, I can only generalize that MH's back office staff is almost always inefficient back in my home country. The last time I looked back into the job market there (2004), the unwritten reverse affirmative action policy is still observed for preferred hiring of Bumiputra (native Muslims, not M'sians born of other ethnic groups).

With that in mind, their systems are still relying on paper ticketing and on tons of manual audits (hence, they can hire tons of cheap staff to push paper). I've been trying to purchase tickets on MH's website but their systems keep giving me errors. For the past 4 weeks, I've been trying with phone calls to their help desk for assistance. Now, I've resorted to help of relatives living in KUL to physically purchase my tickets.

Getting back to mileage on WP, you should send documentation to NW's service desk (fax preferred). That way, you still have the original boarding passes and receipt if you still need it for MH.

Does anyone know what MH flights have NW codes?

It is indeed unfortunate that MH is unable to rid itself of inefficiencies. The Malaysian government had taken over its debts and absorbed losses on domestic flights (MH actually get paid to for domestic routes), allowing it a fresh start, and yet, it is still deeply mired in losses. They should end "lifetime" employment and cut the fats. They have an excellent product and services on board, but badly need better services in other areas.

To my knowledge, only the AMS-KUL route (NW85xx. It's also code-shared with KL.

It takes forever for MH miles to post. I flew LAX to KUL in november and didn't get the miles until 7 weeks later. Keep your boarding pass and fax it in if you don't get anything in a while

I'll second the comments here: the service onboard is great, but they make it unbelieveably difficult to buy tickets if you're not in Malaysia. I bought tix online one time and had to go back and forth between customer service on two continents and finally had to visit the rep office in DC to pick up my ticket

I booked some award tickets on MH through the Japanese WP office on a Saturday and had the paper tickets in the mail by Monday ^ It seems ironic that NW is better at issuing MH tickets.

When I go to NWA.COM and try to book seats on the AMS-KUL route it always shows up as a KLM flight number, not a NW flight number. I'm not sure NW is code sharing on that route. KLM is, but that doesn't help WP members trying to get EQMs.
