Sort of...So hopefully this isn't a duplicate, but just noticed on my nwa.com summary:
01Mar2007-29Feb2008 Platinum Elite
01Mar2007-29Feb2008 Platinum Elite

Cool! Makes me feel more comfortable about all those zeros. And we get an extra day of status!

Shux, looks like NW's giving me the status drop down a level.
Close this year but couldn't keep my tier.

Yes, my first trip this year will start in a week from BOS to HKG on some carrier that shall remain nameless.
I have a comfy 15A business class seat on the upper deck of 744. I only paid $1,100 coach fare, upgraded by SWUs.
Subsequent trips on business class are booked for Feb. and April, to Shanghai and Beijing, with 15A as my official seat.
Yes, don't cry for this Base Member.

I think that NW made the correct call by offering no soft landing to me.
If someone only had 6,000 EQM in 2006, he does not deserve any elite status.
Elite status, IMHO, should only reflect current loyalty to the airline. For that, I am not complaining.

No soft landing
01Mar2006-28Feb2007 Platinum Elite
01Mar2007-29Feb2008 Silver Elite
I purposely flew fewer miles on NW in 2006 due to its labor thrashing about, so I didn't expect a soft landing with 30K+ EQMs.
My current plan is to credit miles on NW only through 28 Feb when I lose Plat status (in the hopes of an upgrade on those flights), then credit it all on AS Mileage Plan, where I'm an MVP Gold. I get the same seat selection preference as an NW WorldPerks Elite through my AS status, and this will help me requal as AS MVP Gold even faster.
Besides, living in SEA, getting any kind of upgrade as a Silver is, well, long odds. It was tough enough as a Gold and then a Plat.

I wish my account summary would show Platinum Elite for 2007/2008. I am still waiting for miles from my AZ flight YYZ-MXP taken on December 26th to post. Once this and the C class bonus post, I will gain PE status. Any idea how long it will take?

Oh well, guess I'll need to update my profile at the end of Feb.

Seen a few crash landings in this thread. I'm just curious whether it was a reduction in travel plans or did you purposefully fly another airline?

crash landing here, too, but with exactly 0 EQMs, what would you expect?
both a reduction in travel plans from August on, and purposefully avoiding NW from Jan to Aug.
