The Vatican City has turned out to be a big coronavirus hotspot. Reading elsewhere, there have been four cases in the Swiss Guard and three cases somewhere else. This means that the Vatican City scored 429.4 in today's update, so Denmark immediately proceeded to close the border.

Elsewhere in Europe, San Marino's status changes for the third time in three weeks. The country is now closed again with a rate of 36.2. Also closed are Bulgaria (33.6), Italy (39.9), Liechtenstein (40.3), Lithuania (31.4) and Poland (54.7). Only seven countries remain open.

Since last week, Sweden is assessed at county level. This time, Denmark closed the border for residents of Dalarnas län (36.3), Gotlands län (30.3), Jönköpings län (43.2) and Östergötlands län (38.2). 9 out of 21 counties remain open.

As usual, Denmark warns about high rates in some regions: Ida-Viru Maakond (375.2) and Vöru Maakond (57.5) in Estonia, Berlin (54.8) and Bremen (53.2) in Germany and Oslo (50.2) in Norway.

In just 2 months, most of Europe has been banned from DK.

By the way, for those interested the new link for checking the map is https://coronasmitte.dk/en/entry-into-denmark and not anymore politi.dk/en

I have always checked this page: https://www.ssi.dk/aktuelt/sygdomsud...ort-over-lande

Today, Denmark decided to close the border for Cyprus (47.9), Latvia (35.6) and Germany (42.1). The border is now only open for residents of Estonia (17.6), Finland (25.8), Greece (26.3) and Norway (18.7) and certain parts of Germany and Sweden.

Sweden is assessed at county level. The border was closed for residents of Norrbottens län (38.3), Skåne län (46.3), Södermanlands län (30.0) and Västra Götalands län (38.0). The border remains open for residents of Gävleborgs län (23.7), Kalmar län (15.3), Värmlands län (22.0), Västerbottens län (19.8) and Västernorrlands län (15.8).

Schleswig-Holstein (16.2) in Germany is considered a border area and was therefore assessed separately. Denmark remains open for residents of this region, but is closed for residents of other parts of Germany.

Skåne län (46.3), Blekinge län (24.1) and Hallands län (43.7) are also considered to be border areas, but they are all above the threshold. To enter Denmark, residents of these regions need to bring a negative coronavirus test which is at most 72 hours old.

The border was closed for Greece (41.2).

Sweden is evaluated at regional level. The border closed for Gävleborgs län (35.5), Kalmar län (32.6) and Värmlands län (36.7).

Slesvig-Holsten is treated as a border area. Since Germany has too many infections, the region is assessed independently. Slesvig-Holsten was at 31.1, so the border was closed. People in Slesvig-Holsten, Skåne län, Blekinge län and Hallands län can enter Denmark if presenting a negative covid-19 test which is no more than 72 hours old.

The border is currently only open for residents of Estonia (20.5), Finland (24.9) and Norway (22.3) as well as two Swedish counties: Västerbottens län (24.8) and Västernorrlands län (17.3).

From what I can see, it is permitted to transit through a closed area, so you should be able to book UME-ARN-CPH or SDL-ARN-CPH if you live in an open area.

Denmark recommends against travel to Pohjanmaa (79.6) in Finland, Oslo (60.7) in Norway and Jõgeva Maakond (52.7) in Estonia. In practice, Danes can't travel to any of those places due to quarantine restrictions in Estonia and Norway and entry restrictions in Finland.

The situation has improved significantly in the Vatican City (0), so Denmark decided to re-open the border. However, the border closes for Estonia (36.2), Norway (39.2) and the remaining parts of Sweden.

Norway and Sweden are assessed at regional level.

Norway: The border closes for Innlandet (44.7), Oslo (85.0), Vestland (54.3) and Viken (43.4). The border remains open for Agder (9.4), Møre og Romsdal (20.7), Nordland (13.7), Rogaland (23.9), Troms og Finnmark (25.7), Trøndelag (15.0) and Vestfold og Telemark (13.6).

Sweden: The border closes for Västerbotten (67.7) and Västernorrland (35.4). The border is now closed for the entire country.

The border is now only open for Finland (25.7), the Vatican City (0) and parts of Norway. Also, people in border areas (Blekinge, Halland, Skåne, Slesvig-Holsten and all of Norway) can enter if presenting a recent negative virus test.

The declaration of the border being closed to Sweden sounds sort of hollow to me when this week too I saw no checking of passengers who took the train from Sweden to CPH

Given the new strain of this virus going back and forth between minks and people in Denmark and how train traffic was going earlier this week, I have to wonder if the testing requirement is effective against this Danish minks strain since even human antibody response is weaker.

Interesting observation. I haven't tried entering Denmark since the border officially closed.

Denmark is shutting down seven municipalities in Northern Jutland because of the mink issue, but I wonder if this actually helps stopping the spread. Public transportation (trains, buses, ferries) will be suspended to/from/between the affected municipalities.

Affected ferries seem to be Agger (Thisted)-Thyborøn (Lemvig), Næssundfærgen (Thisted-Morsø), Feggesundfærgen (Thisted-Morsø), Hvalpsund (Vesthimmerland)-Sundsøre (Skive), Frederikshavn-Læsø, Hirtshals (Hjørring)-Thorshavn and various international ferries. Some of the ferries still claim to be operating a few trips for necessary traffic such as freight.

In today's update, Denmark closed the border for two more Norwegian regions: Rogaland (31.3) and Troms og Finnmark (43.6). No other changes.

The border remains open for Finland (26.4), the Vatican City (0.0) and five regions of Norway: Agder (25.3), Møre og Romsdal (26.7), Nordland (28.9), Trøndelag (21.8) and Vestfold og Telemark (24.5).

The information has moved to a new URL.

In today's update, Denmark decided to close the border for Finland (36.6). The border is now only open for one country, the Vatican City (0). Interestingly, the infection rate has been going down in Iceland (26.3), so they aren't that far from having the border re-opened.

Finland, Norway and Sweden are assessed at regional level.

Finland: The border was closed for Etelä-Savo (33.8), Helsinki-Uusimaa (79.2) and Päijät-Häme (35.3), but remains open for the rest of the country. Confusingly, Helsinki-Uusimaa is a sairaanhoitopiiri/sjukvårdsdistrikt, but the table and the map suggest that Denmark actually opens and closes the border at the maakunta/landskap level. What makes it even more confusing is that Norway opens and closes the border to Finland at the sairaanhoitopiiri/sjukvårdsdistrikt level.

Norway: No change since last week. The border remains open for Møre og Romsdal (19.6) and Trøndelag (15.9), but is closed for the rest of the country.

Sweden: Border closed for the entire country.

Slesvig-Holsten: Border closed (48.2).

It will be interesting to see if this time they really mean it and how they enforce it when it comes to traffic from Sweden.

In today's update, the Vatican City (0) remains the only country which is open at country level.

Finland: Border closed for Etelä-Pohjanmaa (30.3), Keski-Suomi (30.6), Kymenlaakso (31.1), Pirkanmaa (40.7), Pohjois-Karjala (32.9), Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (52.4) and Varsinais-Suomi (32.9). Border re-opened for Etelä-Savo (18.3). The border is currently open for Åland (8.3), Etelä-Karjala (15.1), Etelä-Savo (18.3), Kainuu (16.4), Kanta-Häme (22.7), Keski-Pohjanmaa (16.8), Lappi (18.7), Pohjanmaa (12.7), Pohjois-Savo (16.4) and Satakunta (19.2). Any idea why SSI writes Åland in Swedish but Pohjanmaa in Finnish?

Norway: Border reopened for Nordland (15.2), Rogaland (18.1) and Troms og Finnmark (16.6). Additionally, the border is open for Møre og Romsdal (19.8) and Trøndelag (10.7). No closures this time.

Sweden: Border closed for the entire country, at least officially. Based on previous statements by GUWonder, the border guards don't always seem to check if you are allowed to enter the country or not.

Slesvig-Holsten remains closed at 45.8.
