P.S. A little OT to this thread, but the People's Choice award for TIFF went to the movie Precious. This movie was directed by Lee Daniels and produced by none other then Oprah; Mariah Carey acts in it as well.

TIFF crowds are pretty discerning so expect to see Precious at the Oscars.

Great book, but out of print.

Not for too long, there's gonna be a new print with a tie-in cover to the movie. You can bet on it.

Ah... that explains why I didn't see it all over... Hope they do turn that press back on (as another FTer thought they would)

The movie's slated for release across NAmerica in October or November some time, most likely Columbus Day/Thanksgiving weekend. Obviously a good excuse for some impromptu FT mini-Dos across the continent. Just wonder how many carriers other than AA will run it as an inflight selection next spring given all the AA product placement?

BTW an interview with the director (Jason Reitman, son of "Ghostbusters" Ivan) in one of the Toronto papers revealed that when he found that he would be short for renewing his elite status last year, he did an end of year MR from LAX-ORD and back, but went into the city to buy a deep dish pizza to take home. A man after our own hearts!

It's already available for pre-order on Amazon.

Once again, the movie will be released in the US and Canada November 12th in limited markets (usually that's NY and LA), and November 25th (yes, that's Thanksgiving Weekend) wide.

akbans beat me on the new trailer.
If you've watched the first one, this is not the same, watch it too. It contains the great line: "we're two people who get turned on by elite status".

Reviews keep pouring in, and they're getting better and better!

If you're an audiobook fan, audible.com has the unabridged version available.

I totally totally want to see this after seeing the trailer.
I love the line where he says "All those little things that annoy most people about traveling are a sign to me that I'm home". "We're not swans, we're sharks. If we stop moving, we die."

I get that, I really do.

Who out here in the SFO/SJC/OAK area wants to go see it as a group?
I'd be up to flying somewhere to see it as a group, but the downside of that is that it would probably be somebody's hometown and they wouldn't get to travel with us. :)

Sounds like it will be a great movie, I can't wait for it to come out in Australia!
