UA Miles

I have 25K that I would like to redeem for hotel stays. How can I go about that. I regularly use Continetal for all my flights but now I am stuck with UA miles that I would like to use up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

You may have a better response by posting in the United forum. Perhaps a moderator would be kind enough to move your thread.

Since the plug was pulled last year on transferring United miles into Hilton HHonors points, there remains no obvious way to use United miles for hotel stays.

You can transfer United miles into Diners Club points (with 50% devaluation) and then from Diners Club into the hotel program of your choice (or into your Continental account).

Another option for you -- if you don't want to claim a 25,000 mile domestic US award ticket -- would be to add miles to your United account in order to get to a higher award level. Perhaps you'd like 2 domestic coach tickets or you'd like a couple of first class tickets, or a coach ticket to Europe, or... There are lots of ways to top off a United account.

You can move 25,000 Continental miles per year into United (boom, you'll have 50k UA miles).
See Does CO->Amtrak->UA really work?

You can get 20,000 miles for signing up for the United Visa (and then 5000 more for upgrading it to a Gold Class Visa).. 10k miles for Comcast high speed internet.. 10k miles for long distance.. etc etc.

Actually taking all of the above actions would mean enough miles for a business class ticket to Australia...

Alas, still no hotel to stay in once you get there!

But I will move this thread to the United forum where perhaps someone will know something that I do not. Please continue the discussion there.
