Yup. Our personal accounts were also upgraded to the premier checking when linked to the business account, though in order to be able to take advantage next year in case similar offer comes up, one must close these accounts as soon as possible. Therefore, those nice benefits would not be enjoyed / used for long if one wants miles more than freebies from the bank.

One important tidbit that I have not seen anyone posted. Our banker warned me NOT to close the business checking until 9 months up. She said for personal account, 6 months is required to keep the miles. However for business it is 9 months. She said she has seen people open business accounts for the $100 sign up bonus and lost it when they closed their business account before 9 months up.

Those who have done the business accounts earlier this year can verify whether it is 6 or 9 months to keep the accounts open in order not to lose the miles.

We did the account opening this afternoon. Only that it took much longer than 15 min... because the banker helping us was distracted...

What happened was, we went in and asked for the same banker who did our personal accounts in Sept. We were told she was with customer and would be with us shortly. Because last time no one at the branch knew how to do it and the branch manager was skeptical and almost not to let us open them despite the personal banker had called the marketing dept to verify the offer, so I really wanted to have the same person handling the business accounts.

Then we started seeing police officers coming in... Finally another banker helped us and she told us that Raquel, our previous banker, caught a "customer" trying to cash fraudulent checks and the cop was called. Since the interrogation was done in the cubicle right next to the one we sat, Meg, the other banker helping us was distracted. We overheard tht the "customer" confessed she was working as a gang member and the gang has already defrauded TD Bank... The banker who helped us was distracted by all these "excitements" and forgot to print me BOTH tracking papers, and then someone had to come in our cubicle to make a phone call. Afterward Meg found she lost one of the signature pages... So she went out to see if that person accidentally took it with her... I ended up signed it again.

And of course she had to go back and forth a few times to make photocopies, to fetch printed paper work, to deposit my $500 check.. Same process for spousal account, and by the time it is all done, it was well over 45 minutes.

However Meg was very nice and kept telling me she would give Raquel the credit despite I insisted she should have the credit because it was she who did all the work this time.

Then the bank manager wanted me to walk Meg through on Continental.com site to get the coupons so THEY can do this themselves before the expiration. I have to stress to them the coupon code is unique, they need to print one for each person who wants to open the account.

That is the first I've ever heard of a 9 month requirement on the Biz checking. Perhaps that was a requirement for the $100 coupon deal and the rep thought it would apply to the 25K mile deal too? I had two Biz accounts opened Dec '09 (mine & Mrs. Aces') and closed them in June '10 with no problems. Both accounts had a few hundred dollars in them so we couldn't close them using the secure message center - had to call into a CSR for each account and a 9 month requirement was never mentioned. And it wasn't on the paperwork from opening the account (although the 6 month requirement was on the paperwork for the personal accounts). This month (Oct '10) we also closed our two Biz accounts opened in Mar '10. No mention of this for those accounts either (and no 9 month requirement on the paperwork for those accounts). I haven't heard a peep from Chase or Continental about clawing back miles.

My guess is that the CSR was wrong. Happy, as you've experienced as well, usually the FlyerTalker that goes in to open the account knows more about the offer than the banker. And I've been following this thread pretty closely and don't recall any reports of a mileage clawback due to closing before 9 months. I'd hate to be proven wrong - lots of swipes at the gas pump down the drain.

Mine suggested 6 months. He knew why I wanted the account and said that while he hadn't heard of anyone losing the miles, 6 months was what he considered safe

Our system shows that you are an existing customer

I applied for a personal and biz account in 2009 got the miles, close both accounts around July 2010. I just tried open a new personal account online and got the message

"Our system shows that you are an existing customer. Please click "Return to Application" and provide login information to proceed."

Any suggestions. I've looked but can't find this issue listed elsewhere. Any suggestions would be great.

maybe it's like when citi closes an acct but the name of it still shows up online in your linked accts.

My suggestion would be to call the chase web team and go from there. Regular CS can connect you with them too. Have it removed and noted as such --effective in July

good luck!

You could have a mortgage or credit card or something that the system has located by your SSN. Try using your old login as well because I did I d one time they picked up my old login and I had to use it again. No big problem.

Does anyone know whether in California, Chase requires EIN (not So. Security) and business formation documents in order to open a business checking account?

Thanks....

Its this true or a typo? You had 2 biz accounts open at the same time and got bonuses for both?

dont rely on that info which may have been outdated.

Chase changed the language sometime in May 2010. any experiences about 2 accounts still work if it is not for accounts opened AFTER May 2010, are basically outdated and could be misleading to those who do not dig further.

Earlier in the year there wasn't a stipulation that you could not be a current account holder. That changed in the spring (May? June?) and the coupon now says that you can't have another account. Not trying to be misleading - this was in response to the original question about a 9 month requirement and I was just trying to furnish dates and the like to give some detail around my experience.

Not saying your info is not good. Just saying that for those who do not dig further could be misled by seemingly outdated info.

Info that is prior to T&C change really is sort of irrelevant because conditions changed.

I dont believe the 9 months clause our banker mentioned, but I would wait till others who opened their biz accounts lately to report back their experiences are a month or 2 after their cancellation just after 6 months. Chase when crawling back miles, does not do it promptly, but several months later. I speak from personal experience on UA card.

That was it...I still had a chase credit card that I had forgotten about. Or more correctly had been thinking would not be tied to the bank account side of things. Thanks for the point in the right direction.

I currently have checking account with Chase (had an account with Chase for 10 years), however coupon says: "This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account", do you think I will get the bonus miles?
