Will any of the following airlines status match Elite (*G) status with Air Canada:

Delta
United
Continental

Delta will depending on how many miles you've flown this year.

Less likely United or Continental will status match a Star Alliance member but it's worth giving it a shot.

Star Alliance won't match Star Alliance normally, so Delta would be the best option. The OP could then potentially try to match Delta to one of UA or CO though.

Which status to match?

Hey all,

I currently am silver preferred on US soon to be gold, and potentially platnium within the next few months. I currently hate all things US but since I live in Philly, it was the most logical. I don't do much international travel, though I am planning a couple trips to Europe in the next 6 months. I'm pretty new to this whole status stuff. I would really like to switch to another airline and have them match my status but if if US is the best option then I will stick with them. The ultimate goal would be to try and get upgraded on my international flights and subsequent domestic flights, though I'm not sure the chances with only gold status.

Thanks!!

I haven't seen one, but you can use one of free fax-over-internet sites to send PDF.

Newbie

Recently moved from New York to London and per this thread's advice, had a status match from DL Silver to CO and BMI Silver respectively. Thanks.

How long is that status valid for?

transfer to US Program from bmi - *G to what?

I have just moved from the UK to the US (Boston). I have bmi *G but given the bad press re: the assimilation into the LH M&M Program (harder to get flights etc.) I'm thinking of asking for my first ever status match. The beauty with bmi was the miles never expired and it was 38K requalification per annum.

I am seriously thinking of trying to get a status match with an American carrier and just burn the bmi miles.

Two questions:

Should I try for another star alliance (CO, UA or US), and which one?

Should I jump ship from the star alliance and ask for status match with AA or BA?

I travel more often to the UK than around the US at the minute am get no upgrades in the US as I'm bmi. I will appreciate your comments and advice.

Very unlikely - status match works best cross-alliance.
