MALEV and alike other alliance members: on MALEV or other s do you get more EQMs on their portion of the flights if you did a Status Match and from lowest level they upgaded yopur status. Or no, your status/ miles received is determined by the status you had on airline your purchased major portion of your ticket. For example if you are AA Plat and have a trip mainly on AA, but two shoert segments on MAlev, is it worth to try to get a Status Match on MALEV --do you get more miles ?

I'm moving from New York to London at the end of the year, and would love to get my plat status (About to expire to silver anyway) matched with BA.

Has anything changed since the OP in this thread? Is there still no way?

My co-worker is CO Gold, but wants UA 1k. He claims he cannot get Economy Plus seats with his CO Gold status.

Is the status match from CO Gold to UA 1k possible?

Unless your friend is a really BIG VIP, it is impossible.
To achieve CO Gold: 50K Elite Qualifying Miles; 1K: 100K EQMs.

He should have access to E+ seats as CO Gold. He needs to call United Reservations if there is any problem.

CO matched from DL Plat to CO Plat in under 24 hours...impressive.

AA Platinum to Alaska MVP Gold
 

I submitted a PDF copy of my AA statement on the web (the Current miles view) to the elite (DOT) flyer (AT) alaskaair (DOT) com e-mail address and they matched my AA Platinum --> MVP Gold within 24 hours.

No notification, I just noticed the changed MVP status when logging into my Alaska account this morning.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Once you were matched from UA 1K to Delta Platinum Medallion, what did you send to Continental to get Platinum as I assume you didnt get your Delta card before matching to Continental.

Air NZ completed upgrade to Gold status from DL PM in 48 hours but not a real Gold because they won't upgrade status matched customers. Good thing I don't plan on ever flying Air NZ...

That truly will be your loss. Actually flying with NZ is one of the best things about them.

That said, earned NZ*GE has gotten me matches on MA and AF/KL which are nice to have but nowhere near as comfortable in any comparable class.

I've just turned CX Gold a couple of weeks back, having flown 90,000 since I joined in April of this year.

I am based in HK and most of my travel will be to London and back but also some to Toronto and various cities in the USA. The reason I am thinking of switching to a *A carrier is due to the very very uncomfortable sliding recaro seats on CX economy. I know they are changing them in 2012, but willing to give someone else a try in the short term, especially as I have 2 trips to London and one trip to Las Vegas in the coming couple of months.

Anyhow can anyone make any suggestions on which airlines to try and status match with? My priority will be upgrades, lounges and then mileage redemption.

CO is still matching, I guess... So, will they match my soon to be AA-EXP to their Plat level? How long will my status be valid? Till Jan or Feb of 2012?

I have few CO flights coming soon and I am thinking of switching back to *A for my general travel and keeping OW as a back-up.
