Here is what I've got from SAA:
"We acknowledge receipt of your query dated 08/10/2010 and are pleased to be of assistance.

Kindly be advised that we do not match status from different carrier. If you are a gold status with Voyager , you can not be automatically gold status with Delta you need to earn miles with that specific carrier to be on the certain status. For further assistance contact our call centre on 011 978 1234.

For ease of reference in future correspondence regarding this enquiry, please quote your case reference number as provided above.

Regards

Can I qualify for a Delta Gold Match?

FlyerTalk Experts need your opinion,

I have racked up approx 45,000 elite qualifying miles on Continental - thus I am silver and with another flight planned I plan to get to Gold before the end of 2011.

I recently moved from a city with a CO hub to a city that is a Delta Hub. I am currently Delta silver, but once I now have CO Gold it will be pretty useless based on where I live now?

Do you think i'll have a chance to get Delta to Match a CO Gold? How should I go about the request.

Thanks

FWIW, for now, CO is still accepting status matches. They just matched my Delta Platinum Medallion status to Continental Platinum. It took less than 48 hours from when I emailed the request. I still haven't received an email response but when I logged into my account tonight, it showed Platinum, and I was able to select preferred seats on an upcoming itinerary.

I probably wasn't going to make 1K on UA again for next year, so I matched UA 1K to Delta Platinum Medallion, then Delta to Continental Platinum.

Neat little trick. So you're Plat on three airlines right now. Quick, fly somewhere!

Anyone tried for a *G status match on Aegean?

I can't believe it - 20K miles to achieve and 16K miles to maintain *A Gold status. That's a steal! If/when bmi DC goes belly up I will consider Aegean to maintain my status with *A.

Wonder what their earn / burn rates are like, and if there are any restrictions?

I understand they are your average *A carrier in terms of earning/burning miles. No perks there - http://en.aegeanair.com/milesandbonu...?code=nolimits.

Not great if you are after free flights, but absolutely awesome for those who do most of their flights with a different alliance but would still like to maintain a status with *A to keep their options open.

can anyone confirm the "once in a lifetime" for getting a status match on Delta .

I hate to burn that since I really do not plan on flying Delta in 2011 , but if its not "once in a lifetime" then I would probably do it

thanks for the info

Status matches to qualify for next year

Looks like I'm too far from requalifying for UA 1P for next year.

Would it work to status match from UA to DL to CO in the next few weeks to keep my *G and premium economy seating for next year on UA?

McGoogles Oct 15, 2010 10:58 am

Just got status matched from DL Diamond to CO Plat. I got my card in the mail from CO and it's only valid until 2/2011... Will I get a new one after that? It sounded like status matching late in the year meant it was valid until 2012.

Yes, you should get your 2/12 card in when they are issued in early 2011.

The only thing is that I could not find the "Special Form" they were referring to in the link. Emailed them to send me the form but never got a reply (this was in mid-August!!)...

Aeroflot status match done in 2 days. May be faster. I didn't checked for two days^:p
