After searching through a VERY large number of posts here, I still can't figure out what airlines other than CO might give me status (without a mileage challenge) based on the DL Platinum status I currently hold. Anyone with experience on this?

CO Status Match: Nothing to Lose

Do I basically have nothing to lose by getting a status match from DL Plat to (hopefully) CO Plat? What I mean is... because CO is soon becoming UA, am I essentially a fool if I don't utilize the "once in a lifetime" status match, in this case to CO? I mean, I gotta figure it will prove useful in some way, right?

That's my thinking too ^ Worked well with Northwest

DL Platinum to CO Platinum Status Match - Still Possible

Continental is still matching Delta Platinum status to Continental Platinum status; Continental status is good through Feb. 2012.

I am hoping to maintain top tier in star alliance next year. I am currently a Delta Platinum and a Continental Platinum, but will be going down to a Delta and Continental nothing next year.

Do any very wise FT'ers have any advice?

Thanks,

Timo

Perhaps I'm just not wise enough, but your post seems to be lacking information that is necessary in order for anyone to offer advice:

Why will you be dropping down to nothing? Because you've flown a lot less DL/*A this year or because you've flown <25K miles on ANY carrier this year?

If the former, there are ways and means. If you're the latter, you're SOL.

Cheers,

Paul.

just curious, but how is this a once in the lifetime status match? with or without the merger, you would have status on continental until 2012. or do you mean now with the merger you'll have status on continental then united, but still until 2012.

I will have less than 25k on any carrier this year. I was hoping to scan and send a copy of my platinum card to another star alliance carrier for a status match.

Cheers,

Tim

Hrm..... Well UA /might/ match you to 1P because of your DL PM status, but I believe that UA have been known to ask for statements, in which case you're gonna be in trouble.

I have no experience with elite programmes of other *A carriers (except for signing up for US's hop, skip and jump... and then doing nothing with it!).

Good luck!

Paul.

Hi....

will Continental give me status match since I am 1K this year on United ?

And how long would that be good for ?

Even if I got to some status and not the full 1k that would be alright,

If I am on the right track where would I start ?

I used up 200k miles this year on FF flights so I only have 17k miles this year , all on United

Thanks for the info

AIRTRAN Status Match to ELITE!

Just got a status match with Airtran today (took only 48 hours). They gave me a no-challenge 12 month match! To maintain status, it says I only need 12 more credits (that's just 6 RT flights in coach or 4 RT in BC) by 9/2011--easy!

All I did was faxed in a B/W copy of my US PLAT card (blown up to half page size for readability on a fax) and then two days later noticed ELITE status on AirTran! Thanks AT!

I read previously in this thread that the AT's fax number wasn't working anymore, but I tried it anyway and indeed got a fax tone. I faxed my request, accordingly. I guess it's a good number since I got my match.

Fax number I used was: (912) 966-6378.

I personally like AT--especially their 717's (very quiet)...they've not lost my bags yet, have BC seats (usually totally open) on all their metal and if you book in mid-range $ B-class coach, you can change/cancel without a penalty as ELITE. Of course, you get unlimited BC upgrades 40-mins prior to any flight departure based upon ELITE check-in times and availability.

I'm really thankful for this thread. In just 1 week, I've gotten Diamond with Hyatt & Best Western, ELITE with AirTran, Gold (Challenge) with Marriott, PE (Challenge) with United and I'm waiting back to hear from CO on PLAT.
