Hey y'all... AC just released their 2011 Super Elite privileges....... And nobody's happy. So, I wanna switch some 50K of my flying to UA to get 1P. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Has anyone recently been successful in getting a status match from BA? (AC Elite / *G)

BA Silver would be fine with me, as Iīm a very modest person. ;)

Itīs interesting how things change.

Just a week ago I was planning to do 90% of my revenue flights on AC metal (50k-70k miles per year, all for leisure) for the foreseeable future.

Now Iīm most likely going to only do 35k miles next year as with the new program I donīt even have enough credits to upgrade three intīl Latitude trips. (and donīt even get me started on the elimination of SSWUs, threshold bonuses and credits for flight passes)

BA seems like a decent option:
- Silver status (pretty much comparable to *G, not not quite as good) only requires 400 tier points which equates to one roundtrip FRA-LHR-North America and and one intra-European roundtrip in C. BAīs C fares are often comparable to ACīs Latitude fares
- 100% bonus miles for Silver members
- upgrades for 12.5k miles o/w from Premium economy to Business Class, so basically the miles Iīd earn on a roundtrip pay for the upgrade (e.g. roundtrip FRA-LHR-SFO in WT+ is $1500a.i., upgraded to business class, but no miles earned in return)

Do you really want to go to UA?

With your flying pattern you should have plenty of options, have you looked into BA and AA?

I faxed last week the 2011 united 1P card and when I checked skymiles today, it showed Delta Gold Medallion! I doubt why they wouldn't match to AA!

how to match from united?

does co actually look at length of status or flown miles? it seems from reading some of these posts that they do.

my thoughts are match right now from UA to DL, then as soon as DL status posts match to CO.

problem is the UA activity wont re qualify for prem exec this year and the DL will have no activity no flown miles etc.

thanks

CO status match

Just in case anyone is interested, and to save some time... CO refused to match my OW Sapphire to ANY Elite status with them - excuse being that they don't match with my OW airline (Malev)... :S Guess I'll give my US business to AA next year, not CO. Shame, would have been easier with CO.

Ah well. :) Any other *A airlines doing status matches that anyone might suggest?

Living in London, I would like a status match with BA. Problem is - they don't match. HOWEVER, and here is the interesting bit (and I hope this experiment works - I'll keep you all posted).

BD Diamond Club is matching one level lower than AF/KL FlyingBlue. If I understand it correctly, my FB Plat will become Diamond Gold.

THEN:
Some time ago, BD shut their routes from LHR to TLV. BA, very cheekily, is matching BD status for people flying on this route (ie ME) like for like (BD Gold to BAEC Gold).

Anyone try this before?

Apparently, as I did the same and the card reads 2/11. However, the email I received said it is valid thru 2/12 and I used it at an RCC (before the recent rule change so CO PLT doesn't get RCC access for merely domestic trips??) and the agent said I was PLT thru 2/12, after scanning my card.

That's good to hear. Do you if you got the 4 SWUs as well? Are they only good on CO metal?

Does anyone know if West Jet will match AA? Checked first page and they aren't mentioned.

WestJet has no true status program, so I assume the answer would be no.

I wish. No UPG's other than UDU's. And those are few and far between.

I did. I know CO will match up to platinum but i'm curious to know at what level they will match DL Gold with? Gold to Gold? CO Silver is useless to me.

If anyone knows, please let me know, thanks!
