I'm surprised no one has posted this yet. Word is that as of this past Monday, Continental stopped doing regular status matches and is instead only do challenges similar to United, where you would need to fly 10k for Silver, 17.5k for Gold and 35k for Platinum in the next 90 days to actually receive the status. From what I understand, people have contacted the OPSC and confirmed this.
here is the letter I got Dear Mr. MOEBOD: Thank you for contacting the OnePass Service Center. Congratulations! You have been awarded Platinum Elite status in the OnePass program. This will make your travel with us comfortable, simple and more rewarding than ever. Your status will be effective for 90 days, from January 14, 2011 through April 30, 2011. To remain a Platinum Elite member through the current Elite year, you will need to fly 35,000 flight miles or 40 flight segments on qualifying flights within the 90-day period. Qualifying flights must be operated by Continental, Continental Express, Continental Connection, United® or United Express® with a Continental or United flight number and credited to the member's OnePass account. Flights operated by Continental or United that have a partner’s codeshare flight number and flights operated by any other airline do not qualify. If you meet the above required flight miles or segment threshold, your account will be updated with Platinum Elite status and an Elite membership kit will be mailed to you in 4-6 weeks. Until your card arrives, be sure to add your OnePass number to your reservations so you will receive your Elite benefits. |

Sh*t! I missed that day by a very slim margin.... :( Had I started this business earlier I wouldn't have to do this, and now I do have to... :(
Edit: Sorry, meant the challenge for CO Elite status... ;) |

Edit: Sorry, meant the challenge for CO Elite status... ;) CO is considering matching my AA status but just for 90 days. I am sure I missed the match for 1 year by just a little bit  I sent in my e mail on 1/8 and they apparently (I think) changed the policy on 1/10 (first reply from them was on 1/13). I wonder if I can plead with them to be "grandfathered" as I applied before the change? I doubt it. |

Contact them again and ask them to give you gold. Point out that the the BA silver benefits versus BD gold. Worst they can say is no.
Dear xxxx, That was very fast, thank you very much. As i pointed out on my first mail there are different benefits for BA silver members and for BMI silver members, My BA silver membership gives me more benefits than BMI silver does, also will provide me with those benefits to all of their alliance members, as i pointed out my gateway from UK will be BMI but i will have to do more flights with other members of your alliance. Also the lounge access which is the most important benefit will be provided only for flights originating from UK, i will not have any lounge access for my return trip. BMI Silver Benefits: New Premium Check-in Area at London Heathrow, offering a fast and hassle-free check-in service for Diamond Club Gold and Silver Card members. Sit back and relax whilst our staff take your luggage and travel documents, and complete check-in for you. Access to our exclusive Diamond Club and Business Lounges Access to other executive lounges overseas Receive an additional miles bonus of 25% of the actual distance you fly with bmi and our airline partners Use of the priority business check-in desk Priority ticket sales desk Priority on standby 20kg additional baggage allowance Dedicated Silver card enquiry line for bookings or enquiries Guaranteed Business class booking 48 hours in advance on our operated flights, even if the flight is full (currently excludes longhaul flights and Leeds Bradford to Glasgow and Edinburgh and bmibaby flights) BA Silver Member Benefits: The above benefits included, when i fly with BA and any of the oneworld member airlines. Plus : Priority Luggage at your destination Board at your leisure Oneworld Lounge access I wrote the above benefit comparison as i don't want you to assume that i am asking for more, i only want to have exact the same benefits that my current membership with BA is giving me.So, please consider to match my status as BMI Gold. Best Regards, xxxx |
Which Airline?
I am doing a 18 day round the world trip (not on a round the world ticket) and would really appreciate *G and Oneworld status to help me with priority check-in and luggage. I am currently a Delta DM and was wondering which airline in each of those two alliances I should try to match to. This trip will be in September - if anyone needs more details on where and why, I'll be glad to answer PMs (don't want to bore here), but I will be in each of 12 countries for 12-26 hours so speed and ease of travel is necessary. Thanks!
**I think this was the appropriate place to post this, but if I am wrong, mods, please move it to where it would be best. Thanks!** |
Sent a fax to DL yesterday. How long for a match?
