I'm TG Silver (*A Silver) does anyone know if Asiana or ANA would match? Thanks

I've seen through this thread some success (in the past) of getting a status match from an airline despite not actually having re-qualified on their current airline. Has this happened lately?
I failed to re-qualify for AAdvantage gold last year, and thus the status expires March 1st. Continental and United both have numerous flights along the same routes I gook with American. My current AAdvantage statement just shows my current status along with my YTD qualifying miles (of which I've got a few thousand now). Being that it's only mid Jan, do they expect to see anyone (especially at a gold level) with a bunch of EQM's at this point to justify a status match? Or more likely would they like me to submit not my current statement, but, my December statement? At this point, it doesn't have to be United or Continental to match to, there are others that would be useful, but, I mention those two more as an example. I guess I can always try and find out, but, if anyone has advice to improve my odds of success, I welcome it. * Oh, and I'm not trying to compete with anyone for upgrades, just trying to get a priority line boarding, and free checked bag(s). :) |

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet. Word is that as of this past Monday, Continental stopped doing regular status matches and is instead only do challenges similar to United, where you would need to fly 10k for Silver, 17.5k for Gold and 35k for Platinum in the next 90 days to actually receive the status. From what I understand, people have contacted the OPSC and confirmed this.
Received no email respond from Continental, but my status show as Gold for Elite OnePass Level :) ^ |
Their response to my additional request for Gold,
Dear Sir Unfortunately we are unable to offer any additional benefits to the Silver membership I am afraid , and can only status match you to the same level as you are with BA . Best regards I replied : Dear, May you proceed with the termination of my Diamond Club account as i have no intention to leave the benefits i already have. I have already cancelled my future bookings. Best Regards Now if i keep my loyalty with oneworld i will need two stopovers to reach my frequent destination...:td: At least they told me that HEL lounges have great spa:D Thanks everyone for the help!!!! |

That's not good. Basically you probably will get an email saying that you have been comped for 90 days... Sorry to put a damper to your excitement! :(

vu0219 - you mentioned you see Gold after your OnePass Elite level while online. Out of curiosity, what, if anything, does it say next to "Star Alliance Elite level" (if you even have that line)? I believe not all *Gold perks (like int'l lounge access) are given during the trial period. I barely got my request in before the change and mine shows a new status under both categories. Could be a tell-tale sign of which deal you got.

sent initial email on the 7th of Jan ... after receiving a reply on the 13th to send more info just received this today. So Matched from KLM/AF Plat to Star Alliance Gold . "Congratulations on becoming a Continental Airlines Gold Elite member! Your Elite benefits and privileges are effective immediately and your Elite credentials should arrive in late February. Until your Elite card arrives, you may print a card online. Please visit www.continental.com and from the “My Account” page, click “Print Duplicate OnePass Card.” For help with reservations you may contact the Elite Priority Line at 866-ELITE-CO (866-354-8326). We realize you have a choice of airline carriers and are pleased you decided to select Continental Airlines. Regards," So I guess I just (by the skin of my teeth ) made the cut ! :) |

I have got both, but still I got that 90 day email. so that probably just means that you DO get lounge benifits for a trial. but it doesn't prove the lenghth or type of status match...

just curious, did you request the status match with the regular [email protected] email? or a different way?

I'm shocked
I have a similar situation. Can be discussed.

Has anyone tried status matching to UA from AA yet? I sent in an email with a pdf attachment of my AA statement two days ago, but I haven't received a response yet.
