Dave ... don't bother wasting your typing. PrimaDonnaOfTravel just is simply not worth the wasted time. He would not believe it if you swore it in the Supreme Court. And then he'd want an audit.

ozzie - I see you couldn't restrain yourself, and had to get in the last word, even after I conceded to you!

P.S. - Keep you eyes open for the Great Pumpkin. It is almost time!

Can we keep it constructive and not get personal?

Or has everything substantive that's going to get said been said? (Please, a rhetorical question only.)

The subject is quite clearly Does a Million Mile Flyer Exist? and is not about any Flyertalk poster.

Thank you.

Pay for my flights and I will prove it to you. I'm sure it can be done. Nobody says you have to spend that much time on the ground. Many people need to be somewhere in person for only a very short time like an hour. Then they get back on a plane and go home or to the next place. Doesn't seem so hard to believe if you figure in some seriously long-haul flights.

On the topic of pilots flying one millions miles a year...

US licensed pilots can only be at the controls 1000 hrs a year max. Assuming these are freighter pilots flying for Polar, Atlas, or Evergreen they would cover at most 500000 miles a year. A 747 flys at about 500 MPH (Including taxi, takeoff, climb, desent, land, taxi, on a 10 hr trip) and if you added dead heading to JFK, LAX, or ANC to start these trips maybe they would cover at most 600000 miles.

Other pilots fly less...

Reading this forum brings right now the fondest memories of home and the small kids at our barn fighting over who gets to sit on what side of the bench....

Besides this, why is it that some people (and some of the belong to the smart percentage of this world) cannot accept simple mathematical or scientific facts?

Out of interest I was reading BA's own website Concorde link today.

Some people fly at lot more than some here think. British Airways themselves state (but I agree they too might be plain lying):

"The most frequent Concorde passenger, an oil company executive, has clocked up almost 70 round trip transatlantic crossings a year."

The mind boggles at what other flying that guy undoubtedly slotted in. Nearly 500,000 miles a year flown just on Concorde - and "hours in the air" not as great as the 'scientists' might figger on the Abacus Mark III. That flying runs to considerably less than 10 hours a week.

Anyone care to do the math on what 70 Concorde RT's would COST.

Yes, but even if it is true, it is still far less than 1M miles. This persons time is clearly more valuable than the money it costs for the airfare. It is highly unlikely that such a traveler is accruing even 100 Kmiles in a subsonic fashion, much less more than 500K.

I certainly would not envy this travel regimen anyway. The airports served by Concorde are not easy to deal with, and the seats on the aircraft are not very roomy. But, it is still a much more sensible way to get 485 Kmiles than anything else I have heard about.

Also, ozstamps, as the moderator requested, please refrain from the personal remarks.

I do not see you offered one shred of PROOF for this rather extraordinary ambit claim. Got a link for us?

The burden of proof would be with anybody claiming that even a single person is flying 1 Mmiles. Otherwise, one would have to prove that each of over 6 billion people do not fly 1 Mmiles.

The only living being that could make that claim is a purported rat stuck in the hold of an aircraft. (Was it on United were a rat has been sighted over the years?)

Gary, everything has been said - more than once. Time to put this one to rest.

CrazyOne and I are both still volunteering to do this if anyone wants to pay for the cost of the plane tickets. I'll even volunteer for the arduous task of flying every single Concorde flight left.

And then I get to take all those miles and do something fun. :-)

I too would be happy to do at least 42 RTWs in a year just to prove 1MM is possible. I just need funding to cover the airfare, hotels, and a little stipend. And I trust I can keep the miles.

Maybe Randy should sponsor a FT race/contest to see how much flying one can do in a year?

I wholeheartedly believe that not only is it possible to do 1MM, but has been and is being done.

Now, if I could win the lottery....I'd be more than happy doing a weekly long-haul on in F on CX, SQ, QG or BA. Having no bills or anything else to worry about, it would make for one fantastic year and probably get me my 15 minutes of fame (if winning the lotto didn't)

Here's hoping...
