'The honeyed voice behind the sword-sharp tongue'?
(As in the 'iron fist in the velvet glove', Merry's description)

I don't know if my description is quite right for you, philforest, but I'm sure that you can find an apt, picturesque expression.

find an apt, picturesque expression

You have special feelings for someone in your life--someone a little "out there," someone unconventional, someone whose actions and
thoughts aren't confined by, er, earthly conceptions of rationality.

For someone like this, quotidian expressions of affection--"I like you," "You're cute"--aren't enough or even appropriate. Are you doomed to keep your passion forever bottled up inside? Not so long as there's a Surrealist Compliment Generator, at

Just click your browser's Refresh button to reveal term after term of nitwittian endearment. What spaceshot could resist a line like "Your eyelids reflect and refract the turgid limnations of an eel trapped in the flickering paralysis of Chaplin's cinematography"? Makes you wonder how this kind of creative genius slipped through the cracks at Hallmark.

Slowly but surely... my party in Paradise itinerary is coming together.

My transfer of 40K Membership Rewards point into Hilton is complete (getting 1560 instead of the regular 1300 per 1000 pts, a 20 percent bonus!)

Reservations set. So I plan to stay 4 nights free and will pay for the 5th. I want to get another stay credited towrads Silver or even Gold status!!!

All the air travel from L-A westward is set, the free tix on Aloha, and the round trip to Maui.

So all's that left:

*Round trip: EWR to L-A... (I plan to take a late night flight to arrive at the nearest airport hotel and crash for the night. Maybe I can meet with some of your L-A members before I leave for Honolulu or when I get back.)
*HOtel reservations at the nearly airport hotel in LAX before and after Hawaii (I will not fly long distance if I don't have to.)
*HOtel reservations in Maui where I'm going after the party. Looking at the Westin Maui, but I hear rumors of a special offer in teh latest INside FLyer which I'll wait for Inside Flyer to reveal Feb 1. CATMAN

Catman...why don't you stay an extra day (on the outbound or return) in LA and I'll treat you to a day at Disneyland including lunch at Club 33 (Walt's private club and the only place with a bar in D'land) in honor of your 33rd birthday! We'll have a blast! I'll give you the VIP tour! Wine, women, and song!

I'll e-mail you an explaination of best time shortly.

And I can celebrate my 34th birthday (just over a month after the PARTY!)

WOW! I'm going to DisneyLand!!! NEVER been there!!! CATMAN

If you are:

1. Under 26 years
2. Going to the FlyerTalk Party in Paradise in Hawaii
3. Haven't bought a ticket yet

then you might consider bidding on the item below:

http://www.skyauction.com/os/itemhtml/ht500266.shtml?500266

4 tickets from LAX-HNL are being auctioned for travel upto Nov. 30/99 in coach class. The airline isn't specified, you may or may earn ff miles, and the fare is unlikely to be upgradeable. Still, the current bids are fairly low although I'm sure they will rise as the auction closing date comes closer. I'm bidding under the moniker "netboy" for 1 seat - so please don't overbid me !!!

I am booking tickets/hotel today. It does not seem like everyone is staying at the same hotel. Is there a central meeting place or hotel to book at?

Haven't heard anything about hotels yet. I know some are staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (HHV).

Raeban and I are staying at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Voyager Club level.

Holler if you need suggestions -- I lived in Wakiwaki for over three years... (and survived! )

Onefreeman, yes everyone is welcome to choose the hotel of their preference as there is no "host" hotel as such. Most of our get togethers will be in the Waikiki area making them easy to get to from any Waikiki hotel. For those who have never been, we'll be making some suggestions with price ranges very soon. And we certainly missed you two newlyweds in Boston . Sorry you couldn't make it.

As long as all the hotels are in walking distance of each other (for those of us who decide to get a little bit too "MERRY" at the P-I-P -- unlike myself! then this should work well.

I"m at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Here's what I'm thinking: Maybe we should pick a restaurant with bar who can accomodate several dozen people for the big night out. I don't know... I turn to you OneFreeman or TropicalFLyer.

The location I guess doesn't matter... the cabs will probably make good business that night.

And I do Plan to wear my trademark in excellent conditon Hawaiian Shirt (though I may buy a second one for the main event!)
