Marvella wants to Know!!

Hallo Ladies,
It's time to confess...... Queen Marvella wants to know!
Other then the usual collection of Blankets, and glass wear, (I have enough UA blankets to cover half of South Beach.) What have you taken from your favorite airplane?

A few years back Kitty Meow and I were on a flight from La Habana to Santiago de Cuba on that dreaded airline Cubana! (for the record, old soviet plane, bad seats, and the bathroom...Girlfriends! I wouldn't, I couldn't .!!......I'm sure you get the picture.) Any how we were seated in the front section just behind the cockpit, so apparently the pilot stored his items overhead in our compartment. Well little old Kitty Meow spotted the pilots hat up there, and forced me to stuff it into my bag after the plane landed. Like everything else in Cuba, the hat shows the years of wear and tear, but it's become one of my favorite piece of airline Memorabilia, plus it's a great prop for a few of my musical numbers.

When your young you do crazy things!

Queen Marvella

I am probably the last person in the world to fly the flag of restraint...but!

Marvella, y'all could have gotten that captain in a lot of trouble. They are REQUIRED to wear those caps...steal their shoes, their socks, their underwear, sure! Go for it!

But htey have certain contractual requirements with the airline, and while it ain't exactly being in the military, they do have to maintain certain standards of dress.

Bottom line: This is NOT FUNNY. How would you like to be doing an engagement and find a vital part of your (contractually *Required* )costume was missing?

Please tell Kitty Meow this was not a ha-ha. Please understand for yourself that this was not a ha-ha.

not funny.

at all.

as a roman catholic, I already have confessed, been forgiven, did my prayers, and have forgotten. Paradise (in november) is waiting.

Marvella, quite frankly I am shocked that you would be involved in such a dasterdly deed as stealing from an airline.

Don't you know that's what hotels are for.
MF

PS: Where does your name originate from? All I can think of is MARV which is an acronym for Manoeuverable Re-entry Vehicle, but that couldn't have anything to do with it could it.

Rudi: I look forward to attending mass with you at the Party in Paradise

Merry: LOL!

Marvella: Besides pillows (only if I plan on sleeping while waiting at an airport for a connection after a red-eye), my only and best score was on a TWA flight to Paris in the mid-eighties. On the head-rests of the first class seats were a white cover (about the size of a big napkin attached with velcro) with the words First Class embrodered in a deep red hue. As I passsed through the cabin on the way out, I snagged one. Until about a year ago, it sat on my work chair in my office. When a colleague-friend took another job last year, I gave it to him as a going-away present (he had always coveted it).

But, like Rudi, I have already been forgiven for that indiscretion, and agree that, in general, there is far better booty at the hotel than the airplane!

I received from a friend of mine (who flew to very interesting places before he was married) a small melamine dish from Aeroflot (about 1cup in size, used for a side dish on a meal tray) in a rather revolting brown color. I use it to hold my keys, coins, etc when I empty my pockets. I really like it-it makes me smile to use it.

My guess on the origin of Marvella's name is from Rio de Janeiro, the Marvelous City (Cidade Maravilhosa).

'Marvella' is just the female version of Marvellous, isn't it? Or at least a personification of the female version...

Hotels will actually charge you for things you take if they are of significant value. And I don't mind. Purchased a beautiful bowl at the Park Hyatt in Sydney once - a wonderful souvenir of a marvellous hotel! Buying instead of stealing also made sure I got a brand new one, instead of a second hand...

The Grand Hyatt in Bangkok also sells some beautiful celadon dishes!

My mom gave me her collection of airline cutleries collected in the 70's and 80's but now I lost them in one of my moves. She had them all! I never thought my MOM would do such a thing. But back in the 80's didn't we all collect those cool wrapped soap bars from the bathrooms? Eastern Airlines, Braniff, Pan Am, etc.

I think the only odd thing that I have is a seat sticker: "Please fasten your seat belts" that is now glued onto my toilet bowl...

I have to confess... I have NEVER, EVER TAKEN ANYTHING FROM AN AIRLINE!!! I can't. Only because I would be the one who would get caught.

I do have a first class napking Yvonne gave me to keep the champaign she gave me for my birthday cool. She said keep it. It's a nice momento.

HOtels are another story... I do take the little bottles of mouthwash and if they leave it the bubble bath. These are two things I don't normally buy and only use for "special occassions." But I leave an extra dollar or two for the maid to make up for it!

I can't do it! You folks (esp. Marvella) have a lot of gumption! Not me.

I guess I'll never be in politics! CATMAN
