I haven't/wouldn't take anything from the airlines! Yuk....used items, no thanks. Call me prissy, but I could NEVER serve my guests items that were handled by thousands. I am not too trusting of the cleaniness of those glass items. I don't salt/pepper anything....I have seen too many salt shakers that the salt doens't come out...how much of that is recycled? Don't know and don't want to know. It gives me the creeps to think about it. And besides, hard to justify to your guests all the world travels, then serve them with stolen property! I think more highly of my guests. If I need something that badly, I'll purchase it myself.
OMNI--Yes, it's good to be a kid, you do RECEIVE (not stolen) some cool stuff usually anyplace you go. Such as, restuarants....crayons, coloring books, etc.
Sorry for venting, but I feel better now.

Well, mileking, now that you mention it, I did pick up my entire living room set (tv included) from the RCC at ord. Of course, getting the lounge chairs to fit into the overhead bins was a bit of a challenge, but they were STILL not the biggest items that I saw people trying to stuff in there.
Traveltoomuch, do you have the same problem handling cash that has been handled by thousands of other people???
Actually, I always wonder about rolls and bread that are served in restaurants: is it fresh or recycled????

For those of you coming to the Boston get-together:
LouLou's Lost & Found
121 Newbury Street
Boston, MA
(617) 859 8593
sells goods from hotels, trains and planes... they have some really cool stuff, and all the salt and pepper shakers you could ever want.
... traveltoomuch, I'm sure that autoclaving these items would sanitise them sufficiently for you to be perfectly safe using them.

Lou Lou's might be a fun place to visit if thos eattending the FLyerTalk Boston convention have time.
But I have a confession... (bring up the soap opera organ music...)
I sometimes... sometimes...
TAKE PENS FROM THE HOTEL ROOM!!!
Hey! I'm a writer and I like to have something handy to write those notes.
I realized what I do sometimes when I went to fill out my immigration form with a pen from the Hyatt in DFW.
OK, So I'm not perfect either.
But I odn't take towels or furniture! CATMAN

What about the British Airways Sleeper Suits? Those fancy duds they give you in 1st class on overnight flights?
I felt a bit guilty keeping mine, but I guess it's OK in comparison to what I've read here.

Omni--the beer in Berlin was sure delicious in thin-rimmed German glasses, not the thick tankards/mugs that they use in the US.
My secret collecting vice is menus from the flights I have been on-I always bring them home with me and frequently swipe them from the other classes. I'm a foodie and it is so interesting to see what is popular/trendy/delicious to different cultures etc.

OMNI: Jamiel, I'm glad you had a great time and enjoyed the beer in Berlin (although even better beer might be in other German cities!)
I keep those little toiletry kits they gave with the socks, sleeping mask, toothbrush etc. I keep them in bags as backup if I lose my big shaving kit.
As for the sleeping suits... If B-A didn't want you to take them they would either collect them before you land or tack on an extra fee on the ticket for taking them.
Maybe it's best that they let the flyers take them. The laundry costs would be outrageous!
