While I'm not exactly sure what super promo Randy is referring to, but in doing some research today, I came across this that looks like it was just posted. Since it involves the magazine, it might be this....

Go to Mileage Builders.........
I'd say the math for 2,500 bonus miles is fairly rich.

Maybe it's another Goldpoints "450" promo with a different merchant.
Wouldn't that be a hoot?</font>

You can deduct what's left of the original #1000 AFTER you subtract what you were given as a premium for making the $1000 contribution. You must subtract the value of the 10,000 miles, then what's leftover is deductible. You know what AA charges when they sell miles. That would be your value.

Hello everyone. As you can tell from my post count, I'm relatively new to this (though I've been lurking for quite some time), but this InsideFlyer deal has intrigued me enough to come out of the woodwork, so to speak.
Regarding dhackers post above, am I right in my calculation that the Starwood/InsideFlyer deal comes out to approximately 1.9 cents/mile based on converting 20,000 Starpoints to 25,000 miles? If so, this seems to be quite the deal.
If I'm figuring this right, I could get a Concorde ticket for about $2,400 (40 InsideFlyer subscriptions), rather than pay $11,000+. Or I could get two FC BA tickets for $3,800 (64 subs), again saving about 8-9K per ticket. I would never pay usual fares for these tickets, but if I can get them at such a discounted rate, I just might splurge. But before I do, I'd really like to know if I'm figuring this correctly. From what I've read here, it sounds like the magazines not bad either.
Have any of you experts looked into this yet? I'm anxious to hear your opinions.

The deal 10K miles for 1K donation looks pretty good to me. If you assume a 25% tax saving from the deduction, it comes to 0.0755 cents per mile. It is generally accepted (though often debated) that a mile is worth about 2 cents. THese other deals do not look good at over 2 cents per mile.
We do need a good promotion to sink out teeth into!
