He didn't seem to have a favorite brand, and didn't offer an explanation, police said.
I wonder if they were Kelloggs cereal?

Maybe he was a FT'r chasing AA miles who hadn't yet read this thread and finally snapped

Someone should tell him that he can get the Kelloggs cereal with the AA mileage certificate for $.29/box. IMHO, $.29 is a small price to pay for staying out of the pokey.

Vons seems to be running out of them, I have gone to stores early in the morning to find that they had no Mini-Wheats. I have also started to see other boxes (Visa promo, Toy promo) popping up in stores. I will be sad to see this deal go! It has been so much fun.

The Ralphs sale is over, back to $3.29 a box, which, if use the coupon and buy only 3 boxes, comes to $1.29 a box. Still not too bad.

But Vons and Pavillions both have continued the sale @ $2 a box.

I must admit, I'm getting tired of this promotion, and I have to force myself into the grocery stores. Something this good doesn't last forever, so I'll press on.

I just found this thread. I went to 4 Von's
and they had the cereal with other packaging
without the AA promo. By the time I got to the 5th Von's they had the right boxes. I
cleaned them out. If I can find the cereal in
Von's, it's free. At Ralphs it's .29. I fear
that these boxes are disappearing. I noticed
that there is a reference to the 2000 Olympics. Have these been around this long?
I have never set foot aboard an AA aircraft,
have been with UA-MP all my life. But I want
to go for the Gold! Maybe I can change by
nickname to CEREAL GUY!

Managed to get a lot of cereal last week when it was free. Today I got 15 more boxes at 29 cents each. Though I had to pay for the miles, I don't mind paying for the miles to give the cereal away. I want many more miles!

Hi BUR-Don. Welcome to FlyerTalk. You'll find lots of great info here.

Unfortunately, today was the last day of the sale. I cleaned out a local Pavilions and Vons this afternoon. It was a great run while it lasted, but I still have all those coupons, so I could still get a few miles for not much $.

Hi Nanook-
Thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking on FT for a few months. I work out your way at Olympic and Bundy. I'm sorry to hear that
the sale has ended, but I can still get the .29 boxes at Ralphs I hope. The other scheme
I want to try if I'm not too late (the story of my life) is the baht pass - the mileage run in Thailand for UA 1K status brought to us by the world famous OZSTAMPS. I work on the weekends, so it is hard for me otherwise to pickup trips that require Saturday night stays.

BUR-Don, unfortunately the sale is over at both Ralphs and Vons/Pavilions. However, for anyone short of miles to get to the next award level (I was 4,000 short), Vons/Pavilions has Nutrigrain snack bars on sale today for 2 for $3.00. That's not bad, although not as good as the Costco sale. It's much easier to get in and out of the grocery store than Costco, so it probably evens out considering your time.

Made another run to the foodbank today and they are so grateful everytime they see me. I asked if they were tired of getting so many Frosted Mini-Wheats and they all said a resounding, "No!"

nanook, what food bank are you going to. The shelter that I usually go to only accepts food on the 2 Saturday of the month and I have too many mini-wheats in my car to wait.......

Thanks

I happen to be in LA,tried this on Sunday, got 15 certificates till I couldnt stand it any longer. At least with the pudding, seems Dave was able to buy case loads at a clip.If I was able to do the same w/the ceral I would have put more time into it.

But I found a way to cash in on 4 Hilton stays for less than $40 a night so I went for that and the 50,000 pts instead. Oh well red-eye back to NY tonight, just saw DL has a web fare for this weekend toi LA, maybe just maybe Ill fly back in to dry off(the West has been rain soaked for the past week)

jsmI take the cereal to Westside Food Bank in Santa Monica--just off Olympic and 21st Street. They're there every morning. If you can't come till the afternoon, they say to call ahead since they're out in the field some afternoons. Their phone # is 310/828-6016. They'll help you carry everything in. I'll email you directions.

craz, yeah, these things are definitely bulky (externally and internally). The Nutrigrain bars are much easier to handle. Hope your return flight was restful.
