Roger, I think it's just good in some locations. For instance, when you shop at Vons, Pavillions or Ralphs in Southern California, they double the coupon, so $1 becomes $2 off. In the San Francisco area, Safeway does not do this (they are somehow connected with Vons). The good thing is, many grocery stores have promotions to get you in the door. You just have to be on the lookout for them. Having said that, I wouldn't have noticed this sale and its benefits without onedog's post.
That could be your story when you get back to the UK. How I spent my free time in Detroit: going from supermarket to supermarket looking for Kellogg's deals.

It is sawdust cereal. Donate it to Second Harvest Food Bank like Pudding Guy did. Nanook is seeing the advantage to being Nanook of the South - double coupons. SaveMart used to do it here in the North but I seem to remember a 50 cent limit. And, for me, the drive would cost me more in gas than the miles or cereal are worth!

Karen, I do miss the Bay Area a lot, but there are some nice advantages to living here in the Southland...double coupons and cheaper gasoline.
Some good news to report: Vons and Pavillions still have the Frosted Mini-Wheats on sale @ $2 each. I visited Ralphs today and their price has gone up slightly to $2.29 per box as compared with $2 per box yesterday.

The stores here in NJ give rain checks, and used to double coupons, but no more.

If you want to make this Kelloggs deal even better, check out www.esave.com. You can get rebates on your Kellogs Nutrigrain, Poptarts and Cereal purchases (and many other products). You simply select the items for which you want a rebate, and print out the shopping list. Then send in your receipt and get the refund. Be sure to print the shopping list BEFORE you buy the products. They're very strict about that. Happy flying!

Thanks to free101girl (and welcome to FlyerTalk, by the way) for tipping me off to the foodbank taking the bags of cereal sans boxes. I hauled my load of cereal over to Westside Food Bank today and the man there was happy to accept them. He said someone came in yesterday with 300 bags. (I wonder if it's a FlyerTalker...)
The sale is still on today $2 a box at Vons/Pavillions and $2.29 at Ralphs. What Ralphs has done, though, is substitute 16 ounce boxes for $2.29, compared to the 20.4 ounce boxes that Vons has. Unfortunately the 16 oz boxes don't have the Eet and Ern codes (sorry LibraryDragon).
I got caught today at Vons buying 10 boxes. The checker told me exactly what was mentioned above--only 3 coupons are doubled. So the rest were singled. So I believe they're wise to us...at least some checkers are.

Has anyone scouted out a similar deal in the northwest? I'm near Chicago and looking for a good deal for these AA Miles. We have Dominick's, Jewel, Cubs, Eagle, Pik n Save, etc. I am even willing to drive a ways too. Thanks, Priscilla

Ralphs in Southern california now has the Mini Wheats for $2.29, so with the $1 coupon and the double coupon they are $.29 each. Not free, but a good deal.

Starbaby, unfortunately Chicago is a non-double-coupon city. (It seems cities either are or they aren't--goes into the competitive nature of the local supermarkets).
Anyway, only place I ever found 2x coupons in CHI was at Eagle, and that was about 2 1/2 years ago. I haven't lived there fulltime since (with time to look for things like that).
You also might try Meijer out in the SW suburbs.
