toadman (or anyone else): AS does not state a "no miles" policy either on its web site or in its weekly e-mails, at least that I could find. Could you please provide a reference to where you found this information?

I finally got a reply. Was very disappointed to receive a canned response. Told them to try again. We'll see....
LATER: Got a canned reply to my dissatisfaction with their canned reply. NWA is really intent on losing my business for good, it seems.

Well, I haven't flown NW in years, and I live in one of those few places in the country where cyberfares (efares, etc.) are almost never offered (once or twice a year at the most), but in solidarity with all of you who live on the mainland and can actually take advantage of weekly last minute discount fares, I have cancelled my cyberfares subscription and had my husband cancel his.

"I sent 'em an email saying I haven't flown them since they started sucking and since they are continuing to suck I'm still not flying them.
No response expected."
QL
And people think that I do not like NWA
Excerptd from the close of my letter emailed and snail sent to NWA:
...You should perhaps rethink this change on cybersavers or I'll guarantee you will very likely lose many future flyers in addition to me.
By analogy, if you deposit your check in the bank by using the ATM rather than a teller, are you still elible to accrue interest on the deposited funds? C'mon, please!

I asked a couple of days ago whether this was true for AS as toadman had posted earlier in the thread. In fact, it's not. I bought a web special for the Seattle FT gathering and got a whole bunch of miles for the trip:
The flight itself + 50% bonus: 1,044
Ticketless Segment Bonus: 250
Kiosk Bonus: 500
Web Bonus (not sure what this one is): 250
Same for the return (not posted yet): 2,044
Web Purchase 1K Bonus: 1,000
Total: 5,088
Not bad for a $138 ticket!

The "smart" airlines will not follow NW. Often there are net fares between a pair of cities from more than one airline. Continuing to give miles gives the one giving miles the edge. These low fares are to fill empty seats - most people taking them are not in an emergency situation - it's"there's a cheap fare to...Let's go" I think most people wouldn't be flying unless the fare were cheap and there were miles for those of us who care. Should we be writing to our chosen airline telling them NOT to follow NW?
