FT Glossary?
You know what might be handy for newcomers? A FT glossary of all the terms peculiar to this website -- don't know what forum it would be in (maybe it's already there) -- but wouldn't it be helpful. For example:
metal: an aircraft, esp. to mean an aircraft flown & operated by a particular airline ("NW metal")
mileage run: a flight or routing taken for the primary purpose of accumulating miles/points, instead of for the destination ("Can anyone suggest an AA mileage run for under $200 from MCI?")
Etc. etc., you can add your own. Does anything like this exist? Where would it go?

In the blue bar at the top towards the right is a pop-up menu named Quick Links. It is located between Search and Log Out. Click on it and at the bottom of the pop-up list that appears is Glossary. Click on that to access the glossary.
This is accessible from virtually anywhere in FlyerTalk.

i don't see it...between "search" & "log out" are "new posts", "mark forums read" & "open buddy list"....i wonder if there is a search primer some where? i get loads of hits when i search but rarely the info i want...perhaps things would be better if i ug'd to mac os10, but i can get most things done by knowing where to kick.

Glossary is the last option at the bottom of the Miscellaneous section, directly below the very handy Airport Code Lookup option, which I highly recommend using. You may have to scroll down your browser window and click on Quick Links again to see the entire pop-up list.
By the way, clacko, there is no need to upgrade to Macintosh OS X to view this feature. Although I have Macintosh OS X as my primary operating system on another computer, I am using Macintosh System 9.2.2 on my blue-and-white G3 with Java enabled in Netscape Communicator 7.0, and I can access all of the currently available features in FlyerTalk with no problem.
