Only a slight plug and not that I have ever flown them but Ryanair in the UK have been offering Ł3 GBP return from UK to Dublin, plus taxes. If looking for bargain basement travel in Europe try: www.ryanair.com,

No I do not work for or have any friends relatives etc who work for the above. As to the experience can't say, never tried it.

PS. Latest telecon with my parents, busy spending my inheritence on vacation in Oz,tells me that there is a real price war going on 'down-under' between the airlines.

FINAL 2 DAYS: 1,000 AIRFARES $68-158 RT THROUGH JAN 19, 2001.

We’re coming down to the wire for some Super Sale airfares, so act fast- you have only two days to buy some truly terrific domestic deals. We’ve been informed that several coast-to-coast airfares as low as $158
roundtrip will still be available at least through next week. However, many of our airfares will expire by midnight Eastern Time October 13, 2000. If you don’t purchase your tickets by that time, many airfares will
more than double. This Friday the 13th could turn out to be a lucky day for all of you budget-minded travelers. Examples of fares that will go away include Dallas/Fort Worth or Houston to Charlotte for $158 roundtrip.
That’s the price today, but on Saturday it will jump to $417 roundtrip.
Pittsburgh to Nashville is currently $126 roundtrip. It will be $285 roundtrip on Saturday. Hartford to Milwaukee is $158 roundtrip, but on Saturday it will increase to $355 roundtrip. Today, Boston to Indianapolis is $158 but it will be $328 roundtrip on Saturday. Washington (DC) to
Minneapolis is $158 roundtrip and will rise to $407 on Saturday. Remember, you have just two more days to purchase many bargain airfares across the country. Current airfares start with Baltimore to Buffalo for just $68 roundtrip and many coast-to-coast cities are available from $158 roundtrip, so book now to avoid disappointment. check out our Deals of the Day section at:
http://www.bestfares.com/view.asp?id=10091582

NEW YORK, BOSTON, PHILADELPHIA, DC TO WEST COAST $178 RT.

The East to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Las Vegas and
many other Western cities for only $178 roundtrip? If you act fast, you
could save hundreds of dollars. Most of the sale fares from the major
airlines start at a high $398 roundtrip. Our low fares can save you at
least another $220. But you must hurry- this sale only lasts two more
days. Don’t miss these bountiful bargains because by this weekend, the
ticket prices could skyrocket another $400 roundtrip. To catch our vast
assortment of awesome airfares, visit:
http://www.bestfares.com/view.asp?id=10091582

AND:
Following are this weekend's Internet-only specials from participating airlines. Fares shown are for round-trip travel and are generally restricted to flights between Friday evening and Tuesday. AF has great deals out of its 11 US gateways to just about every city in Europe (we have only listed a few). If you add these deals to what is already out there from Lufthansa and Scandinavian, you just can't miss. Of course Air France is a Biztravel Guaranteed Airline, so this is a great time to check out its service while connecting through Paris. What it really might come down to is: Would you rather have a Bavarian Bretzel (yes, with a 'B') in Frankfurt Airport, or some wine and cheese in Charles de Gaulle during your brief time between flights? I won't tell you my choice, as I don't like to play favorites. Any preferences out there? Lufthansa and SAS are good only for a few more days, but Air France gives to month's end.

AND again, US Airways, AirTran Airways, and Delta Air Lines released winter fare sales for travel between now and February 12, 2001.
For all three airlines, an additional five percent discount applies to tickets booked online. Purchase tickets by Tuesday, October 17 for US Airways and AirTran, and Friday, October 13 for Delta.

Midway Airlines is offering sale fares on routes throughout its system, with round-trip fares starting at $116. Travel is valid
between now and December 20. Purchase tickets no later than Monday, October 16.

$158 COAST-TO-COAST TRAVEL NOW THROUGH MARCH 30, 2001.

Our $158 roundtrip coast-to-coast airfares have been extended for travel
through March 30, 2001. Last week, these fares were slated to expire and
were only valid through January 19, 2001. But due to overwhelming
response, we can now offer you these great fares for another two and a
half months. Airfares to Florida are valid through March 14, 2001, still
allowing you another two months of travel. You will be able to make your
travel plans for much longer in the future. In addition to incorporating
popular holidays such as Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s,
you can now think about traveling for President’s Day weekend and perhaps
more importantly, a spring getaway. You can fly to or from Orlando, Tampa
or Fort Lauderdale to over 50 U.S. cities for $158 roundtrip or less.
Sales may not last forever, but with our negotiations and the many
requests you gave us, we have been able to extend both the purchase and
travel dates on these spectacular specials. A brief sampling of other
cities includes Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco
and San Diego. Fly cross-country for as low as $158 roundtrip from over 40
Midwestern and Eastern cities.

Beginning Oct. 26, travelers between the nation's capital and Fort Lauderdale and Melbourne, Fla. will have an affordable and convenient jet service option aboard low-fare specialist Spirit Airlines, the largest privately held airline in the United States.
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/001023/fl_spirit_.html

Pack your bags -- you could be flying in no time at very little expense.
We have just negotiated the lowest fares in America, but you have to hurry
because they will only last for the next four days. Can you believe that
we have cut airfares between 58 U.S. cities to only $148 roundtrip,
seniors $134 roundtrip for travel through March 30, 2001 (Florida thru
3/14)? In fact, seniors can take a companion of any age along for the same
low senior price. That’s only $67 each way! This blowout Super Sale is
practically unbelievable. With the major airlines complaining about higher
fuel costs, you know that they are going to raise airfares again in the
near future. Business travelers have already seen an increase of over $150
roundtrip this year, yet we can now offer you coast-to-coast fares cheaper
than this markup alone.

We haven’t seen coast-to-coast airfares this low in the past five years!
You can bet that when this sale ends on Thursday the published fares on
most major airlines will triple in cost for these same routes. Don’t just
sit there. Phone your family, email your friends and earn some brownie
points with your boss by pointing them to Bestfares.com. Of course, don’t
forget your own pocketbook. It’s like having an after-Christmas sale in
October. For full details and booking information on this promotion,

Thanks Doc!

How about a new thread "airlines start Fall sales in Fall"

BTW, anyone else notice the conspicuous lack of big sale ads in major newspapers by UAL? Isn't this normally the season for those?
