America West has started some fare cuts...some markets are down to $148 r/t, example SJC to AUS and AUS to PHX. 7 day advance purchase required, travel by dec 14th.

Just FYI, not sure how long this will last or if others will match.

To Wharvey:

I've seen several posts to your question and I wanted to make sure you knew that airlines MUST give you a credit when your fare decreases (it has to be the same flight, though) and they cannot charge a $75 change fee.

Airline policies differ, however, in how they give you the credit and how you use the credit.

For example, Delta requires you to go to a ticket office or airport to pick up or use a voucher. If a Northwest price drops, however, you can just call and they'll mail the voucher. And when you want to redeem a NW voucher, you can make a phone reservation and mail the voucher - no need to go to a ticket office.

Family Flyer,

Guessing you are responding to my post in another topic...

Your comment was interesting. According to UAChris on here, a cash difference refund will require a $75 fee to be paid. A voucher credit does not require the $75 fee.

In fact, he processed the fee.

HHHHmmmm... now I am confused!

COAST-TO-COAST $198 RT ON 4 MAJOR AIRLINES THROUGH JAN 7, 2001.

Hurry. Tthis is your last chance to purchase holiday season coast-to-coast fares for only $198 RT. You have a choice of 4 major
airlines, which means that you have more opportunity to travel on the dates you prefer between now and January 7, 2001. Buying now and choosing your departure and destination cities creatively can enable you to travel in style on a paupers budget! For example, Washington DC to fun-in-the-sun San Diego is selling for $685 RT -- but if you fly out of Baltimore your fare drops to just $198 RT! So three of you can fly from
Baltimore for less the price of one from Washington DC. Plus, you can use
the remaining $91 for a stretch-limo to get you there in style with enough
cash left over for a bottle of champagne along the way. For details on
more coast-to-coast savings opportunities, visit:

Airfares to Europe Starting at $198

Icelandair is offering fares starting at $198 round-trip from Boston, Washington (Baltimore), New York (JFK), and Minneapolis
to Reykjavik, Iceland and eight other European cities.

Well folks, the deals really seem to be over and the airlines have jacked fares up all over the place. With the exception of a few routings here and there, fares I have checked lately on most all airlines are up at least 15% over where they were before the sales, with many routings seeing increases of 33%!

only for the time being. if you look at the amount of internet only sales delta is offering 9(about 10 in addition to the regular weekly web and escape plan sales), plus the cybersavers nw has for next wknd to ams, you'll realize this is only the beginning. with everybody worrying about oil prices, bookings are low, and prices will fall in the next coming weeks.

i just got an icleandair websaver for $99 dollars each way to europe from the us, and $149 each way to scandinavia(which, i know, is also in europe) for low season travel. i doubt everyone will match, but sooner or later people will come close.

If youre planning a trip to Europe starting in November, nows a great time to buy. For example, you can depart from Minneapolis, Boston, New York City or Baltimore to your choice of London, Paris, Amsterdam or
Frankfurt for as low as $198 roundtrip. October through December travel to
London is the best bang for your buck. From Chicago, its $310 roundtrip.
Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles and Orange County departures are $348
roundtrip. Plus, we also have European specials with Quadruple Miles, free
stopovers in London, and more. Let Bestfares.com help you see the world
for less by clicking to:
http://www.bestfares.com/view.asp?id=10089904

AND:
This 4-day super-sale is valid between 78 US
cities coast-to-coast starting as low as $158 RT for travel through
January 19, 2001. NO, THIS IS NOT A MISPRINT! Whats more, the only
blackout dates are November 22, 25, 26 and 27. That means if you act fast
you can even use these fares for travel during the peak season that
includes Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Christmas and New Year when prices are
sky-high! With the major airlines just having increased their prices by
$60 last weekend, you can understand our excitement at being able to offer
you coast-to-coast fares between many US cities for only $158 RT. Seats

Doc, do you know how the $158 RT cost cited above by Bestfares compares to the $198 RT available on other websites? It seems that with the facility charges, taxes, etc. there is the opportunity to present the price in a more favorable light. I'm thinking that the Bestfares price is equal to or only $20 less than the current Travelocity, ITN, etc. price of $198. (plus some fees to make about $210)

No I do'nt but I tend to agree with you that it might be- it's just a guide!

ATA (American Trans Air) announced today a sale that should put a big smile on your face. Purchase your tickets by October 26, 2000, for travel through February 14, 2001, and you can take advantage of some of the biggest savings of the year. ATA is offering one-way off-peak fares between ALL of their continental U.S. destinations starting at $99* or less. Fares between Chicago and all continental U.S. destinations are priced from only $89* or less. Best of all, if you book online at www.ata.com, you get a $10 round-trip discount on these already low fares. It's a sale you can't afford to miss!
