My own experiences are closer to those of MileKing. I am waiting to get to the next threshold for mypoints, and then I am cashing out and closing my account. I do find the site slow at times, at other times I do a survey only to get some error message, and then some things are not credited - so the return on my time is not that good.

I thought that after I reached 20,000 points I'd give up and not worry about MyPoints but here I am, within a couple of thousand points of my second 20K. It's important to keep MyPoints in perspective...in many ways its like found money and it's just not worth it to get too upset about missing a few points here or there. (Doc, your 1000 points is another matter. That's worth pursuing. Have you called them? They're much more responsive to voice calls than emails.) The hardest thing for me is that MyPoints has been posting missing points in back months so it's hard for me to keep track of what I've received and what I'm still missing. Nevertheless I traded in my first 20k for ten Marriott stays at $50 off so any way I look at it I'm already ahead by $500.
Now pointclick has me annoyed but that's another matter.

I agree with both sides on this one. Collecting points from MyPoints is a royal pain in the butt. However, so far in approximately 6 months I've cashed in on 25K AA miles & I'm just a little past half way to another 25K. I've decided to give up on MyPoints several times but the miles keeps me coming back.

I agree with everyone, that is just my way...
Mypoints is a pain for getting credit for purchases, so unless it is a great deal like the more.com 1000 points, i won't use mypoints, other programs work more efficiently so I use them. But, you can't beat the easy talkcity polls, the 50 pts for visiting websites weekly and these myway points.
on topic: The myway points are weekly, and they do disappear around tuesday each week, and reappear on the weekend. I think sunday or monday morning is the best time to catch them. This is based on only 2 weeks experience so it might change, the first week I only caught 3 of them before they ran out. This week I got them all. Hopefully we can all start catching them, unfortunately these aren't always available like talkcity (yeah i know, lots of poll errors there). At least these you dont have to vote in the poll to get the points.
Mileking, when you write them for the 2, 3,4 and 5th times, do you keep forwarding the prior emails and autoresponses, this way they are tracked together and the person reading them gets a better picture that you have waited too long. I had a couple problems but when i gave them 1 email with all the info and complained that the delay was 8%!!$#:+, I got the points. I think everyone has said, once i get 20K i will quit, but then it happens, and you keep going (okay maybe this is because 3 days after you hit 20K you get 3,500 points that you had been missing for 3 months, but with the lesson learned to just go for the quick and easy free points.

Yes, tummyg, I send them copies of all the old e-mails! You may be right about treating them like the fools they are...in my most recent message I told them I was sick of the nonsense I had to go thru to get the points...the 100 points appeared. Now if I could just get the other 500 I would be thrilled!

I have never dealt with a company like MyPoints. I don't do business with companies like them. I imagine what they are doing to the people that *don't* follow up like we do -- ripping them off blindly and collecting the "click-through" payment from the web sites. It's unethical.

Well, I have to agree with everybody here. Mile King, I know exactly what you're talking about: I've been waiting and calling, calling and waiting, and they still owe me points...
So, I'll follow Travel Weary and Nanook's strategy: only Talkcity and weekly visits, no purchases or registrations anymore.
I usually exchange 5,000 mypoints for 5,000 AA miles. I'd like to hold on to them until I can exchange 20,000 mypoints for 25,000 AA miles, but every so often I start thinking that they'll probably go out of business soon (with such customer service practices), so I'd better cash in while I can.

MyPoints is the type of company that would've been featured in numerous exposs on TV if they were a traditional institution like a bank. Despite offering "how are we doing?" survey links for several months, their customer service has continued to go steadily downhill. It seems that email responses are not only canned, but the whole process now seems to automated. It feels like all incoming mail is filtered and responses are generated based on keywords, rather than at least being glanced at by a human.
It has become common recently for EVERY answer to be "your account has been credited" even though there is no truth to the statement. When you reply to these posts, you get no response and you eventually have to restart the entire process over again.

Out of all the MyWay links in that post, I could only find two that contained MyPoints links (maps and horoscopes).

Carl,
Myway seems to remove the points and then put them back as i noted before. I think it is on weekends when they reappear and are virtually gone by midweek. That is why I didn't post them when I first found them, because they disappeared before i got all of them, and it is frustrating looking everywhere and coming up blank. When these reappear whoever finds them post and hopefully we will verify a "Myway" pattern.

Actually, the links were there last night, 2/11/00. I logged on about 10 p.m., Pacific time, and went through all of them. I had checked earlier, about 8 p.m. and they were not there, so midnight in the East may be the key.
