Use a temporary credit card if you don't want to worry about being rebilled, or just cancel after 3 months.
I don't think anyone here was actually doing this for the subscription though...

I gotcha, but a couple people upthread mentioned they had paid for it without getting points back. I'm really just addressing anyone who is primarily motivated by the subscription itself.

Well, I subscribed for this WSJ through UR Dec 31, 2013 and see no 2K points. Called Chase # on reverse of card---was told it's escalated and to expect a response in 7-10 days. Doesn't look good for me.

Bummer I got the points very quick...

I also actually REALLY enjoy the WSJ and if I could get it for under $5/week all the time I would keep it. I really enjoy it but I wouldn't pay more than $10/month

Well, I did do this through Ultimate Rewards and guess what? I'm turned down twice for the bonus 2K points. Reason stated is that I "didn't purchase WSJ through the UR Mall. Nonsense! I simply clicked the link in UR's. Well, I guess if Chase says I didn't purchase through UR then it must be me imagining things.

Did you give them a link to the image of the offer? From above, it is http://i.imgur.com/sYPo8c9.png. (Thanks, ryanmcv.) I did this via secure messaging and got my points. Or are they acknowledging that yes, they made the offer, but you didn't subscribe via that offer? But then, where else would you have found this subscription rate that they can see on your credit card bill?

Do you have any ad blocking software on your browser? I found out after several issues with the UR Mall and talking with CSR's that the Ad Blocker in my browser was causing issues. Now I use a different browser when I want to use the Mall and I don't have any issues. Always take a screenshot though of it sending you and the purchase and typically they will credit you if you SM or call.

Sorry, special instructions, etc., to make sure you get points ring empty with me. It just sucks because I was acutely aware how one shouldn't lose the original portal link and all. Like a fool, I just followed steps as instructed. This is just a blatant no-go for me. I'm not the first one to not get points after fulfilling steps properly. I am surprised, though, that Chase holds to such firm negatory. It's probably some kind of software glitch (look at ObamaCare software!). Screenshot of offer page didn't help with Chase SM.

Success! After secure messaging one more time conveying my disappointment of being turned down for bonus points to Chase SM, a "senior CSR specialist" granted me 2,000 UR points.

My points posted without issue. now it's just figuring out when to cancel. Do people suggest I transfer the points out of UR before I cancel to keep them from getting clawed back?

Woo Hoo! I have typically had good luck. For future UR Mall purchases though I would verify that you do not have any Ad Blocker installed, as you will have the same issue in the future if so

I guess... I was going to not cancel at least not until the end of 12 weeks, maybe tack on a week or so at regular rates.

I'm not suggesting, but it's what I'm doing.

WSJ doesn't show up...

I'm assuming this offer is dead now? I did a search for both WSJ and Wall Street Journal in all 3 of my UR accounts...and nothing is showin' up
