New TD terms for AI bank plan
Forgive me if this has been reported before. Just logged in to my TD account and received an invitation to apply for their AI chequing account. I notice that the AVI is no longer listed as one of the cards eligible to have the AF waived. Terms now say:
"Subject to credit approval. Annual Fee waiver applies only for the Primary Cardholder of one of the following new (to you) TD Credit Cards TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, TD Platinum Travel Visa Card or TD Gold Elite Visa Card and one Authorized User for the same account for as long as the All-Inclusive Account remains open and in good standing. All other fees and charges applicable to the selected and approved TD Credit Card Account continue to apply". |
I wonder if there are old terms that the web team forgot to update. Aeroplan visa still listed on the main page, and no changes when logging in on mobile or desktop
|
It has been really quiet, I think Canada has been 2-3 years not getting any new travel credit card:mad:, instead we're losing IHG/Delta .......
How long it take for RBC points convert to Esso? |
No surprise once the merchant fees were cut a few years back.

You could get the Scotiabank Gold AMEX which comes with 20K welcome points ($200) and is free for the first year at the moment - it gives you 4% cash back for gas, groceries and entertainment. You can apply the credits towards any travel you charge to the card. This includes airport/airline taxes and fees on Aeroplan tickets as long as you charge it to the card. (Aeroplan booking and cancellation fees not included)
The good thing about this card is you can use ANY gas station and double dip with Aeroplan at ESSO, or Air Miles with Shell. So, I applied for the Scotiabank Gold Amex. I got an email from Scotiabank saying the card was sent to my nearest branch, and I must make an appointment  to pick it up. Not sure if this will be a 3-minute procedure or an all-out sales pitch for every imaginable Scotiabank product. |

Crummy news for me (since I applied for it last month)... Good news for anyone else... The welcome offer for the Scotiabank American Express Gold Card has gone up from 20,000 welcome points ($200 in travel) to 25,000 welcome points ($250 in travel). • $250 in travel (increased from $200). • 4% on gas, groceries, entertainment spend. • First year free. • Very low household income requirement to qualify. I think this is a great deal. |

Borrowell and I think there was one other? CreditKarma.ca for Transunion, report and score (weekly) Or directly at Transunion.ca (has an online feature that is wonky but works for some people) Equifax (primary pulls for TD/CIBC) Mogo.ca and Ratehub.ca (QC-enabled) for Equifax, score only (monthly). Or directly at Equifax.ca, with the free 30-day trial (score and report, one and done). |

Patrick at Rewards Canada reports that TD will eliminate the First Year Free offer on the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card after tomorrow (Sunday, March 5, 2017). http://blog.rewardscanada.ca/2017/03...m_campaign=563 If you have been hemming and hawing about grabbing the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card because the sign up bonus is only 15,000 miles with first year free then this should make up your mind. The new offer that will release on Monday will have the same bonus of 15,000 miles on 1st purchase but will not be first year free anymore! Get it now to get those 15,000 miles for no cost! P.S.: I've added a link to a screenshot of this offer, before it goes away, just in case TD later "forgets" the First Year Free offer. https://ibb.co/eGs1ov |
It's now saying on the application page "by March 5th".
Thanks for the head-up. |
GCR just pull off all the TD cards in weekends, there's no $60 rebate now

Edit... Equifax - Soft pull Transunion - Hard pull |
(TD AEROPLAN CARDS)
EDIT: See the wiki at the TD Aeroplan thread. It's better. |
u can still get fyf with 15,000 plus another 10,000 till may 4 , just seen it at rfd
|
Doesn't appear to be first year free, although $60 net annual fee instead of $120.
I'll edit my earlier post. EDIT: I recommend reviewing the wiki at the TD Aeroplan master thread instead. |

Is there any advantage of doing this? At what point should this be done? RE: MBNA Online account

My appointment was "15 minutes" when I asked. I informed them that I have no interest in any sales pitches. 3 minutes later I was on my way
Scotiabank employee: "Oh. We didn't collect your SIN number during the application". Me: "Nope." Employee: "Can you provide it to me?" Me: "No, I didn't provide it during the application because it's not necessary." Employee: "Well it's better that we have it." Me: "I'm not giving you my SIN number." Appointment wrapped up shortly after that, and I was on my way. Bank called me the next day; said that employee didn't get my signature before handing me the card. Asked me to come back to the branch again just to sign for it. I said sure I'll come by some day. I was one of the folks who signed up for the 20,000 point bonus, just before it became a 25,000 point bonus. Amex wouldn't give me a courtesy 5,000 point bump, and said I have to go into a Scotiabank branch to ask for that. Fine. After I actually receive the 20,000 points, I'll go into a branch, and ask for those 5,000 points to be credited if they want the signature. :D I might even open a Scotiabank Momentum Chequing Account with the $200 bonus, though it will cost about $70 in fees plus some hassle in setting up transactions. |

I was waiting to see if they would come out with a 30k FYF offer, thru a cardholder's referral link(like last year...from my understanding, only some c/h's had received an offer to refer, not everyone),however, after reading that it can take 4-5 months to get the points decided to apply for the 25k offer now.I almost gave up after receiving so many technical error's from their site and via afilliate sites, using my laptop! I decided to try,one last time, using my tablet on their mobile site.....and voila! it worked
Has anyone churned this card? |
Don't know which forum to post, so thought to post it on here as I am Canadian :)
I have a ~$3000 payment come up in early June that they do not take AMEX, only VISA/MasterCard. I thought about getting VISA or MasterCard gift cards using an AMEX, but those fee (Activation or something else) seems to be a bit too much. Are there any other suggestion for a good sign-up bonus? I didn't want to just pay it with my BMO M/C or CIBC/TD Aerogold. Thanks. |
