I made the mistake of applying over the phone. I had to fax T4 and NOA for 2 yeas. It took 2weeks but approved . They also checked my credit twice in the last two weeks.

Yikes.I wonder why there is a difference between applying online vs on the phone. Glad I applied online... it was painless.

Can't remember if this has been posted before but the CIBC Aerobiz 20,000 bonus is distinction eligible. My wife applied online with no issues. I will apply in Aug as I only cancelled it in Feb.

Has anyone had the experience of entering the wrong Aeroplan number during the CIBC Aeroplan Visa Business application and had the bonus points deposited to someone else' account? I just did that and I'm trying to get my 20k back. =(

Can anyone speak to the churnability of the BMO Air Miles World MasterCard?

My wife signed up for it mainly for the bonus miles + 25% discount on booking rewards, which on a family booking adds up to a substantial number of points.

Now our winter holiday is out as my wife is due to give birth around New Year's. If she cancels the card this fall, what are the odds that she can cancel, sign up again and get the bonus? Or could I sign up and just use her AM number? (I currently have the BMO World Elite MC, but have never had the BMO AM card... other than this one card, I am not that familiar with BMO and its CC practices.)

I'd be grateful to hear anyone's experiences with this... what I read could affect my strategy for accumulating Air Miles

I'd think it's churnable as long as there's no "no repeat welcome bonus" clause like the BMO World Elite ($300 bonus)

For AM, I'd recommend churning AMEX Air Miles Platinum instead
2000 AM after $500, FYF. I think GCR gives $30 cashback now? unless you use a referral (500 AM referral bonus)

You can each get one by referring each other, repeat-and-rinse

Yeah, I've been alternating back and forth with the Amex Air Miles Plat/Gold for the last year or so.

The nice thing about the BMO World AM MC is that you also get a 25% discount off redemptions in addition to the 2000 AMs for signing up, so for a family redemption it makes quite a difference. Although I do recall reading that the card was recently "enhanced" so as to make the 25% discount apply only to NA redemptions... obviously a huge hit to any hardcore AM collectors who were planning family trips overseas.

is 25% on top of AM Gold discounts (sometimes 30-40% with WS/AC)?

but yeah, either way, I probably won't redeem AM for flights (which still need $$$ co-pay)

IMO, Air Miles program is worse than Aeroplan/Avios

I don't know how many of these actually exist. The big issue with AM is that they charge fuel surcharges on every ticket not just specific carriers like Aeroplan. Doesn't make much sense to burn through a huge chunk of miles to save ~150-200$/ticket to Europe, while you might actually save more than that using less miles with NA redemptions.

(I know, YQ is lower on NA-Asia flights, but still.)
