Apple Products

Planning on buying an Apple product soon. What's the best way to maximize the points I get?

Which reward programs do you belong to? There are several shopping portals that include Apple. There are also several stores that carry apple products. You would have to check those you belong to.

I mainly collect Ultimate Rewards (Chase) and do have the Chase Sapphire and Ink Plus.

I purchased an ipod touch through the Ultimate rewards site at Target. On their shopping portal, you can seach by item and it will pull up all the stores carrying it. That's what I did and Target offter the most points.

Thank you. I searched for the product and then made my decision. This was very helpful.

Stack the discount with gift card purchases through Card Pool (i.e. buy the Apple product through Best Buy. Buy gift cards @ Card Pool for 3.5% of face value). Then use a cash back or mileage/point mall.

you could also buy a visa gc at OD and use your Ink card for 5x and use the card to buy your apple product (or get an apple GC at OD).

Apple can also be obtained via RadioShack - those gift cards often sell at a bigger discount.^

I don't use GCs when buying expensive electronics because the extended warranty provided by most credit cards is worth more than a few extra points, as some in this thread have pointed out.

yep, valid point. It's a trade-off that needs to be evaluated carefully.

If you have a discover card, it's a no brainer to go through their shopping portal.
