Anyone ever have any luck with claiming miles for transactions as follows:
Buying physical iTune GCs
Opening a airline shopping portal and clicking on iTunes
Entering the GCs to iTunes account
Spending the newly deposited iTunes balance
TIA

I do that literally every time there's a discounted gift card and whenever I buy something on iTunes/app store.
I should say it's a multi step process:
- buy discounted gift card through shopping portal if possible (e.g. staples, best buy, etc. though more commonly ebay)
- and then, literally every time you want something from iTunes, use a shopping portal. This will also work for apps.

"Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Only eligible for purchases at the iTunes Store, including e-gift card purchases. Not eligible on physical gift cards or gift certificates."
First time I have received push-back. May try to fight it.

Looking to buy 2 iphones.
1. United shopping portal offers 3 miles per $ on 10/14 and 10/15.
Read small print and it states that Iphone 7 doesn't qualify.
2. Went to Ultimate Rewards portal.
Same small print. Purchase doesn't qualify.
What other options can you suggest to earn extra miles/points?
1. Buy gift cards at office store and earn 5 points/$ for Chase Ink.
and then use them for purchase.
2. Buy gc at office store via UR portal to get extra 2p/$. But how do I get the gift card - by mail or email?

Thank you for mentioning that. I was aware. But the question remains which portal is best to get extra points for Apple purchase.

Which ones have you checked? I just looked at the Southwest RR Shopping portal, and the only exclusions are the newest X phones and the gen 4 watch.
MTA: I just bought a new iPhone 2 weeks ago from Costco. It was $50 less than the Apple store. And I get 2% Costco Executive rebate. I know this board is about maximizing points and miles, but sometimes cash is worth a lot more.
