I do all that I've done today knowing that BA may nullify it. I got my free 1000 in April when I joined BMI the first time. A lot of folks would probably be well advised to understand that if they're up 1000 Avios at the end of all of this, they shouldn't complain.

Not that they won't. . .

Let me rephrase that. "Wondering if shooting them an email might help.":D It's hard to overstate the importance of little details in conveying the message:).

Alas, it still doesn't work for my wife. Although I managed to get a 1,000 miles on my third attempt after clearing the cookies, her Avios account now reflects the Blue number from my first fruitless attempt and won't let me combine the miles because there were none. I don't see a way to link it to her new Blue account that does have a 1,000 miles in it. If there is a way to fix it I'd appreciate the hint.

Signed up for my wife in her new name and got the 1000 points. Her passport has just recently been sent off to get her married name shown in it, I'm guessing I'll need to fix the name on the BA account before I can do the transfer.

Worked just fine, thanks OP!

Finally figured it out. If "Combine my Avios" is missing.. go to manage account.. change personal info and put your birth date in ... you haven't populated it and it thinks you are under 18 and therefore cannot transfer. You also have to input a passport number.. i used a fake one as I didn't have mine avail. Hope this helps.

I put these two together because this is as good an answer to mnscout's request for help as any. I know I have not had any problems getting the miles or making the transfers, but I've also had my BA and BMI accounts for awhile. As a result, I suspect I've already set up the accounts in a way that no issues arise.

If you didn't have either account before this promo or only one of them, I think there's probably some small detail in the new account that's blocking the ability to get or transfer miles. Or, it's just a glitch at either BMI or BA's website, both of which have been known to be buggy.

Saw this deal elsewhere. Created one new BMI account with the promo code. Created one new BAvios account and household account through a longstanding BAvios account's invite. Moved the BMI 1000 into the household account without a hitch. Resisted the temptation to add six more hypothetical household members to the fold.

I'm unable to type the bonus code as there is already one in place and it cannot be removed.

Worked fine for me (and I did it directly afterwards for my wife's account - seems ok as long as you log out of the 1st account before going back to the registration page).

I had another offer code in the box, but was able to overwrite it.

Thanks to the OP/everyone else for bumping the thread so I could see it! ^

Thank you so much. This is the step I was missing. It works now.

It had OWE in there for me, I just deleted it and type in the right code....?

I just tried with a HK address, didn't see 1000 miles after signup.

Also, I can't find the combine avios under manage my account. i'm on the UK sites for both.

The only options remotely related to Avios on the BA site are
Claim missing Avios
Prevent Avios expiring

Anyone got any ideas?

check if you have your birth day set up in your profile. if not, add that info and refresh screen.

MilesDavis11 Aug 17, 2012 7:50 am

I have all my contact information, birth date, and passport # already in my BA profile, but when I click "transfer miles" from the BMI site it just bounces me to my BA profile page with no option to combine points.

Still scratching head...

*EDIT*

After trying it a 6th time it worked and took me to the combine page.... Weird.

*EDIT #2* After attempting the same thing for my wife, I realized that I needed to click "Manage my Account" and "Update my Account Info" on my BA page. I didn't even change anything because I already had my b-day and pass# in there, and just clicked "Save and Exit". Tried it again and it worked

Also, I ran into the same issue with the prefilled promo code that couldn't be edited. I think that has to do with what page you click-through to get to the sign-up page. Just try navigating to it another way through Google, etc.

I had this happen to me as well. When I visited www.flybmi.com and chose UK as my country, if I clicked the Create an Account link at the top of the homepage, and then chose to sign up under Diamond Club, it took me to a sign up form where the Voucher Code could not be edited.

From the home page, if I hovered over Loyalty Programme and clicked the Join Now link, it took me to a sign up form where the Voucher Code could then be edited. Hope this helps!
