Since people are having problems here's a quick guide:

1) Go to BMI signup: https://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loy.../join-now.aspx
2) Create an account with voucher code 1JA1KD
(Make sure your date of birth is same as your BA account, it's listed euro style DD/MM/YYYY (vs american MM/DD/YYYY.)) Note this!!
3) Get 1000 Points for registering and find out your account #
4) Go BA website login with your account
5) Go to manage my account
6) find Combine Avios
5) Click it and follow instructions and login with your BMI account # and password.

Transfer should be done instantly and you'll get an email from both BMI and BA.

Easy 1k!

Awesome! 4500 BA miles each gets my family to NYC one-way. 1000 BA is an easy $45 value per person. It's also great that UR points can be used to top off the BA accounts...so it only costs 8000 additional UR points for RT...thanks

Excellent guide. Thanks.

Mine went through without a hitch, but unfortunately, when I applied for my wife, she didn't get a 1,000 miles, even though I did it in another browser. So, it's either dead or there's a glitch. Wondering if shooting them an email might help.

Nope. Still working just as described. Clear cookies. Make sure you are at the BMI UK site. Use a new email address.

The good thing is that each time I see a message that this deal is no longer working, I create a new email address, test the system, and get another 1000 BMI miles that I immediately transfer to Avios.

So, keep those questions coming because I'm perfectly happy to keep testing the system. . .

Just a question...

I have 6 people in my household. Can I sign them all up, transfer to Avios and move them all to my account under the HOH stipulation?

Oh, and by the way, if Rule 1 is "don't call," Rule 1(a) is surely, "don't email!"

I do all that I've done today knowing that BA may nullify it. I got my free 1000 in April when I joined BMI the first time. A lot of folks would probably be well advised to understand that if they're up 1000 Avios at the end of all of this, they shouldn't complain.

Not that they won't. . .

Do they each have six email accounts? A more serious answer is that anyone who is signed up must be 18 or over.

Great guide, worked perfectly for me. (I'm American)

Did you log into your wife's BA account instead of yours/household account? You will need to use your wife's Avios number/password to login on BA. That solved it for me, and I got 2,000 Avios.

'Drat! Those pesky FTers have bested us again'
- quote which will be said by someone in a few hours when they arrive at BA HQ and see the hundreds of new BMI account holders. :D

No, 2 are teenagers. But it says that you can do it for your kids too.

Don't the names on the BMI and BA accounts have to match? Or do you just mean you are signing up for each person in your BA household account?

I accidently tried merging my fiance's BMI into my BA and it didn't go through because it didn't match.

Check this blog post for why those 18 and under won't work: http://headforpoints.com/2012/08/16/...t-still-works/.

I did not get the 1K on 1st sign up. Then did a 2nd one using different email address, got the 1K instantly.

However BA website would not let me combine it. Each time I tried, it gave me a timeout error message.

I have a household account but others have been able to do it.

UPDATE:

Changed to Chrome, then it worked fine. Though I am not sure it is the FF issue or it is BMI / BA system issue as the time at UK is deep in the night and the system may be running overnight updates hence there might be sporadic interruptions.
