I accidently tried merging my fiance's BMI into my BA and it didn't go through because it didn't match.

I am the only person on my account. Some FF programs require unique residential addresses, names, telephone numbers, etc. to create a new account. So long as there are unique email addresses, BMI seems an exception.

As Spock said of Khan in Wrath of Khan, "He's intelligent, but not experienced. His pattern indicates two dimensional thinking." In this case, a HHA is not the only solution. . .

But that's my rationale for my post upthread. If BA decides to close that loophole, I won't complain. They seem not to have yet. . .

Free 1000 Avios for creating BD account

However BA website would not let me combine it. Each time I tried, it gave me a timeout error message.

I have a household account but others have been able to do it.

BA's website is notoriously glitchy. If you look at the comments at http://headforpoints.com/2012/08/16/...t-still-works/, you'll see that those problems have been reported today, on and off. I've learned to deal with it, but then most of my girlfriends could have been described as notoriously glitchy. So long as you have miles in a BMI account, you will eventually be able to combine those miles into your BA account.

Again, assuming BA doesn't take steps to close this off and reverse certain credits. On the other hand, it's only 1000 Avios so maybe BA figures this is good will.

Now, if you try to do this with 100 email addresses, I make no assurances. . . ;)

They could earn business this way, my immediate family (3) signed up this route. I/we have never flown or held a BA balance, but if my family account gets to keep those miles I will definitely build upon them (somehow) and eventually flights will be flown. I think depending on the outcome BA could come out ahead with an influx of new customers :D

Free 1000 Avios for creating BD account

I am actually buying a new MacBook Air this week, depending on the outcome of this I may or may not be topping off my new BA account with +1200 Apple Avios

Since people are having problems here's a quick guide:

1) Go to BMI signup: https://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loy.../join-now.aspx
2) Create an account with voucher code 1JA1KD
(Make sure your date of birth is same as your BA account, it's listed euro style DD/MM/YYYY (vs american MM/DD/YYYY.)) Note this!!
3) Get 1000 Points for registering and find out your account #
4) Go BA website login with your account
5) Go to manage my account
6) find Combine Avios
5) Click it and follow instructions and login with your BMI account # and password.

Transfer should be done instantly and you'll get an email from both BMI and BA.

Easy 1k!

Wow, thanks for doing this. Seems like straightforward, can't miss directions.
So why can't i find "Combine Avios" after i go to manage my account?

Also, i never supplied BA with a birthdate, is that a problem? Is that how they link the accounts?

1) After you go to manage my account, the combine avios function is the last one listed in the center of the screen.

2) Birth date is being used to check the ownership of the 2 FF accounts to make sure it is the same owner.
You need to update your BA profile with the birth date else it would not work.

Do you have a BA account? You'll see a "Combine Avios" entry only if you have a BA account. A BA account is not automatically created although BMI is now a BA subsidiary.

I have an account and I don't see the combine Avios option either.
The only options that I have are:

My statement
Update my details
Order Executive Club items
Apply for a Household Account
Change my Household Account
