Anyway to know if some you sent an email has actually used that link to apply for the card? I sent my coworker an email with the SPG referral link but don't know if he used it. Also how long does it take to get the referral points from SPG.

My wife applied for a personal card using my referral. She got the "wait up to 14 days" message.

She wants to go for the business card. Any reason not to try the same day as the personal?

I got the same response, but you can check the status by going here: https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome.do

Hi all -

How valuable is this 30K sign up bonus? I recently did the Citi AA cards and only a few months ago did the Chase SP, so unsure if this is worth another card app/spend...should I wait for a potentially better offer in the next year, or is 30K as good as it gets?

Thanks - also would love to hear if anyone was approved with many hard inqueries.

The 30K offer on this card is the highest it's been historically. The standard offer is up to 25K, and the spend requirements have been higher. This is the best offer we've had in a long time, hence all the hoopla here and on the blogs.

30k is as high as it goes. SPG points are very valuable if you know how to use them, and worth 1.25 AA points if you just want to transfer them (per 20K points).

I got instant approved after a 5 card AoR back in March. 748 FICO according to Amex.

Actually, no. This offer was around as recently as Dec 2011 and summer 2010 before that.

Referring from Personal to Biz?

My wife and I signed up for the personal SPG card a few weeks ago. My wife and I each have small businesses, and want the biz cards. Can we refer each other for the biz versions of the card? Can someone who holds the pers refer for the biz or vice versa?

Thanks

No, you can only refer for the card you hold. However, there's enough time left in the promo (assuming instant approval) for one of you to get the Biz card, then refer the other as soon as you receive it.

And you'll find plenty of people here happy to provide the initial referral. Like yours truly, for example....

U need a Biz card in order to be able to refer a Biz card. One of u can acquire a biz card and can then refer the other person for the biz card.

Actually, it was - in the summer of 2010 you could get 40k on one of the cards (personal or biz, can't remember which) and the spend was lower too.

WOW really? Wish I had done that.

Anyway I applied with referral from (thtsapaddlin) first got the 14 day notice thing. Then I clicked the link here to see if I can check on my application, and it said I was approved. I called try to get expedited shipping, but he said since I was already approved of course they can't change it.

Now I need to figure out how I will meet the spend since I been trying to spend less. lol

I would like to apply for this offer, however I currently have 4 AMEX cards - 1 charge and 3 regular (with credit line) cards. I don't have (yet) business cards with AMEX. What is the best for me (in the terms of being approved) - to apply for Business SPG card or to apply for personal SPG card? My feeling that I have a good chance to get a Business card than personal. Does AMEX allow to have 5+ personal cards? I don't think that AMEX allows closing old card in the favor of opening a new one as Chase does.

I'm guessing maybe an offer that only lasted a matter of days under a special promo... but I can't recall the circumstances nor can I pull up any details at all on Google. Do you remember the circumstances of the offer?
