Just called UA, and was told to a premier gold with a challenge.

Which means you'll need to fly 12,000 miles (I think) within 90 days.

Who is your current status with and how did you achieve it? Why do you want to change from oneworld?

Latam. I got the status due to flying close to 100k per year for the past few years. But I do not use LATAM enough to get enough sectors. I am moving because I will not fly a lot of Syd-SCL in future. Still I prefer oneworld, but AA or Qanta do not status match so far.

Yes, about that. A Syd-LAX return will do it.

But remember that, going forward, you'll need four segments in UA metal to keep whatever status you have.

Answer: they have nothing in place for this. (I understand take that as a "no". )
That would never have worked. IB and BA are both owned by IAG, never mind being in the same alliance.

OK, I'm not going to find out WHEN I wrote this, but I am guessing this was before they came together and IAG even existed...?

Posted Feb 27, 2012, approximately a year after their merger creating IAG.

Different BS with each. Glad I status matched my EXP to 1K. The EXP desk is now staff with way too many clueless HP/US agents. You'll miss the 1K agents. AA is now a garbage airline. Meals are inedible, worse than anything even Jeff thought off. DL's agents are solid but you're stuck with the # alliance. I guess it all depends on what are you looking for in an airline/alliance. If you decide to match/challenge, make you sure you complete the challenge after July 1st so you get an extra year.

Any updates on A3, vis-a-vis downgrades to "fast-tracked" Silver/Gold statuses?

I was planning on status matching as I have AA EXP from significant flying 2016 and would like to get some sort of status with either Delta or Alaska. However this year I will have very little flying. When I request a status match (was planning to late 2017 to get 2018 status), will they look at my YTD miles flown and deny me (as all the flying was in 2016)?
