Mileage Binge Scenario
Hi all FT'rs,
I ask all of you for your input. I have just purchased my first home and am ready to undertake my first credit card app-o-rama. My goal is to have enough miles with a program, so that I can plan an epic honeymoon. My current mileage balances include:
Alaska: 320,000+
Continental: 62,000+
United: 65,000+
I have a bunch of other various miles but they are immaterial in the grand scheme of things.
I would love to get enough miles to be able to do a round-the-world flight for the two of us. However, I'm not sure the AA One World awards are the way to go.
What do you recommend I sign up for and what do you recommend for the mileage earning potential to get a big bank of miles?
Thanks,
Kyle

Here is a good link to some recent deals that might interest you. The key is to keep track of minimum spends so you don't miss out on the bonuses. Also calculate what the annual fees will be to see if it is worth it. Keep track of the dates you apply so that you can cancel before the renewals fees kick in. Then there are often bonuses for transferring between programs (or even between accounts) that can get you more miles for cheap.
With all the miles you can get, instead of a single round-the-world itinerary, you may just to better booking your own. You can often do one-way awards on many programs (but not all) and just build your own awesome itinerary. The hotel cards will keep you in luxury accommodation. It will take a lot of time and effort to build this and book it but have fun doing it.
...and go Ducks (or Beavers...whatever)
