Can I get both Continental and United?
I'm new at this, so stick with me.
So I've been reading up on here and two popular options seem to be the Continental 50k miles deal, and the United 50k miles deal. I'd like to sign up for both cards in hopes of having 100k miles after the merger.
What's the best way to do this? Sign up for both at once? Spread them out?
I have mid 700s credit, and 2 chase cards currently.
I'm looking forward to hanging around and learning lots from you guys. Thanks

When did you last apply for a Chase card?
Your only potential problem would be that Chase, at times, does not like you to apply for a second card in less than about 5 months........however, YMMV.
I would apply for the CO card now and get that approved. If that is approved, then try for the UA card. Even if you are rejected, you can apply for the UA card in 6 months.

CO / UNITED chase card
Hey, I tried to do the same thing. I had 2 Chase card at the time (Chase Freedom, and SW Chase). I know one thing for sure, you cannot apply for both card at same time. The 2nd card will automatically rejected. I tried it twice, once with myself and once with my GF. For me, I applied and got the CO card but got rejected for United. With my GF, she applied for United first and got that approved but declined for Continental. I don't think United is offering 50K bonus.

About two months ago, I canceled my BA Chase card. Then a couple weeks ago I applied for both the CO and the UA cards at the same time and got rejected on both for having "too many applications for credit with us." I called Chase the other day and spoke to a woman who said something like "oh, I guess we're seeing other applications from your household" (which wasn't accurate) or something to that effect, and she went ahead and approved my CO card for a $10k limit. Not wanting to be greedy, I thought I'd leave the UA card be and just reapply later this year.
The next day, though, I was feeling greedy, so I called again. The woman said "but I see you just got approved for another Chase card," so I said "oh, I didn't realize that you couldn't apply for two cards at the same time." She balked and then said, "well, let me check it out for you." A few minutes later, she came back saying she had split my $10k limit into two, one for each card. An easy 100k UA miles. Of course, YMMV.

3 months between..
Applied for the Chase United in January... got 50K bonus. Just applied for OnePass card...received in mail yesterday and they confirmed I would get the 50K bonus on that also ( I was worried they would approve me but deny bonus offer)
I did not have any other current Chase products... had a Marriott over 2+ years ago which I had for years.

I had the BA Chase Visa and canceled it in January. Two weeks ago I got the CO Mastercard with the 50K deal, already having a OnePass account. Yesterday I registered for a United MP account as a new account.
Now, how/when can I get the United MP 50K Visa offer???

I got the UA 30k, CO 50k, a 2nd Marriott Premier 50k and a PC Select 60k all within a 6 month time frame. At the time of opening these, I already had a Marriott Premier and a Slate which is a byproduct of countless transformations since I opened it as a college card back in 1990. All of these are Chase products.
As one other FT'er has said, YMMV.
Peace!

I applied to both on the same day and got denied for both due to too many applications. I had to lower the credit limit of my old chase freedom card in order to get co approved. I wouldn't suggest that you do them both together, but ymmv. Apply for the continental now and then do united later when the offer is better. Right now,ua is only 30k.

Mrs bj2757 and I have had the Chase Continental card since last fall. We also had the Southwest cards but cancelled them a month or so ago. Earlier this week I submitted an application for the United card for Mrs bj2757 and it was approved instantly.
My only disappointment (if I'm reading the details correctly) is that the free upgrade certificate you get can only be used with a "full fare" ticket - not the reward ticket.
