I just redeemed 91k points for 3 hotels that we booked for our sabbatical in June - talk about a life saver reducing the cost of our month long trip!

I have one more hotel that I charged to the card but i'm 600 miles short of being able to pay it off with Cap 1 miles. Has anyone find a way to earn some miles before a statement hits after spending? I could charge some things to the card but that means i'll have to let that one charge on the card ride for a month and pay interest until the extra 600 miles from spending show up on the account next month.

Just pay the bill then ask for credit. They can then send you a check for the "credit" balance on the account.

a warning to anyone redeeming gift certificates and sending to another name/address--

twice i've had family members go to CapOne's website and send the gift cards to my name and work address (since we have a good mail room, and they can sign for them as required by UPS), and both times they've been mailed with the ORIGINAL CARDHOLDER'S NAME! this despite it's clear from ordering on the CapOne website what the instructions are.

obviously, this is a problem when a large mailroom can't track the name of an "employee" that doesn't exist! they show correct on CapOne's website, and I've argued with the CSR's, but both times they've come back and agreed that there was a glitch somewhere.

just be aware if you're planning something similar.

Did the fairmont multi night award change recently? I don't recall seeing ovation certs on the description a couple weeks ago...I read that people were getting GC's @ 3x$300

Inconsistent description of remaining Fairmont reward
 

I just took a look at the remaining Fairmont reward: the Fairmont Hotel Multi-Night Stay for 51,500 miles.

The Product Description refers to an Ovation Reward certificate for a standard room in a Collection C property.

The Terms & Conditions section refers to a $900 Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Gift Card.

These are two very different products. Does anyone know if this inconsistency existed prior to today's pulling of the 28,750 miles reward for 2 Ovation Rewards certificates?

Note that the reward that was pulled was for two certificates for a "Standard Suite" which does not seem to be a room type used by Fairmont. The product description for this Multi-Night Stay reward specifies a "Standard Room."

I've read your post 3 times and still can't figure out what you are trying to say.

Person A orders award and requests it be shipped to person B and person B's work address. However, it goes to person B's address with person A's name on it.

Since person A doesn't work at person B's location, the mail room has no idea who person A is or whose internal company mailstop to route to.

This is an annoyance. Suppose I want to send a family member a gift card via Capital One? I don't want to send a gift card to my brother AlaskaGuy in Alaska but have it addressed to ArizonaGuy in Alaska.

And, in addition, there are now Fairmont GCs, but with the Ovation Reward Certificate wording:

Wow, the CapOne people must read these boards since the 3 Multi Stay awards were all changed to $900 awards last night. Well done to avoid confusion CapOne. Now please bring back the Raffles Ovations awards so I can buy some :)

For Fairmont, the product description still refers the Ovation Reward certificate.

this is very confusing. the description refers to a one night ovation award and the t&c refer to $900 gift card.

Best I can tell, if you choose this option you only get .005(1/2 cent)/C1 mile. With the 'travel credit' option, you get .01/C1 mile.
