I know how bunches of you love to worry yourself about the details, from the moment you order, untill you have the award in your hand.

More like redeemed successfully at checkout!

What happens if they dusted off the 100 Raffles only certs from the redemption closet, and your limited to the 5 or so Raffles hotels in Asia.
you could get an ovation award with RAFFLES ONLY stamped all over the front of it.

I doubt this is the case, but someone called for wild speculation, and I know how bunches of you love to worry yourself about the details, from the moment you order, untill you have the award in your hand.

so your welcome
(evil laugh)...muuuhahahaha

But as I posted earlier, a week -10 days in the Phnom Penh and/or Siem Reap Raffles is not a bad thing.

I thought I'd start a new thread where we could discuss the different ways to use the large amount of Cap1 points many of us 'hopefully' will be receiving. Many of us are Cap1 novices and would appreciate some guidance.

Maybe someone could post an award chart or other pertinent info. Cap1 experts, please chime in.

Hopefully this will keep the BIG thread from getting a lot bigger. :)

CASH...Trade them for Cash

I think they were planning to use the travel credit of 1c/mile which you can receive within 90 days of the charge posting. If they didn't charge anything else to the card, they would have a credit balance after the travel credit is posted and could receive a check for that.

Thought it was 1/2 cents.

Tell that to my wife who's expecting the Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui...

OK - Then I'd say if you want to be 100 per cent sure, get the $900 in Fairmont gift cards.

To me the best use for Cap One points depends on how flush you are with regular points.

For me, the best use is at places where there are no chain hotels in which I have points (i.e., no Starwood, Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt). For example, I'll be using mine in June in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Beaune, France. both those stays will cost me over $1,000 prior to using Cap One point. After redeeming points, well, let's just say "sweeet".

I just got an email from C1 and my Hyatt GC are on back order. I placed my order last week.
Also, don't forget their shopping portal. I ordered a pair of sneakers and got 14/1 miles. Then I had lunch at Applebees and got 7/1 miles.

To fill out the roster of out-of-stock hotel certificates, I received an email notification today that the $900 Ritz-Carlton certificates I ordered on April 18 are backordered and are anticipated to be sent on/before May 13. (No backorder notification yet regarding the Hyatt certs my better half ordered on April 14, nor the "Raffles" ones ordered on the 25th).

When did you order last week? I ordered last week on 4/24 but haven't seen anything..
I was hoping to use it for my trip the 2nd week of May..

Just joking, we're hoping to save 48K SPG points, we don't have any desire to stay at the Fairmont in particular, it's just a hotel we would never be able to afford otherwise. I may tell her that we've changed destinations from Maui to Cambodia just to see the reaction.
If it doesn't work for the Fairmont I'll store the certs (no expiration) and start saving cash and miles for a trip to the Maldives Raffles, if it ever opens.

I am trying to assess the comparative value of the different hotel certificates. It appears that some certificates can only be applied to an individual night (Raffles) versus an overall bill. As a Hyatt Diamond member and Fairmont/Raffles platinum member it would seem logical to get the very cheapest overnight rate and simply take advantage of one's premier benefits. Has there been any problem with the recognition of benefits with these certificates? For those that have them do there appear to be any limitations to using them like the old Costco Hyatt certificates? Thanks.

If you book a prepaid rate, you may or may not be able to get the local property to refund your prepay method and pay with the certs. Otherwise, you should have no problem, these certs are just like cash.

Just wanted to find out the hotel you will be staying at in Ljubljana. I've been there twice and stayed both times at the Best Western Solon which is in the very center of the city. There used to be an Intercontinental Hotel in Ljubljana but it rebranded some time ago. I love that city and country. Make sure you visit Lake Bled, a short train ride from town and take in General Tito's summer palace on the lake.

Same here. I'm going to Hungary next month, and although two of my three hotel stays (in or near Budapest) are award stays at chain hotels, the third hotel stay is in a smaller city with no chain hotels. I'll be using the C1 Venture to pay for that as well as most other non-hotel card purchases on that trip (due to the no forex), and then expect to use points (including leftovers from the 1200 signup points that I've only partially redeemed so far) to pay for that non-chain hotel stay.
