Just got back from Europe. I got all the rebates I could from their internet site, then called and applied 99+% of my balance to anything and everything else. This included fuel, an electrical plug adapter and grocery store beer. The CSR let me decide what qualified. Very flexible program. Thanks CapOne!

Can you tell us the Certificate Type? It should be 3 letters code (ECF or ECS).
Also, when did you get your shipping confirmation email?

I would call them and request the second certificate as it was clearly stated in T&C that each set includes 2 certs.

It is collection D standard NOT collection C SUITE.
code is EDF xxxxxxx

are they replacing "two C's" with a D's?

good for Fairmont, Raffles or swissotel locations

all the rest are the same as described online

There is no way 1 EDF is equal to 2 ECSs. I wouldn’t even agree to take 2 EDFs because I think in most circumstances a standard suite stay in category C hotel (ECS) is more valuable than a standard room in category D (EDF).

Looks like a big rip-off by CapOne.

You are right. The worldwide list is pretty extensive for the Check Certificate.

I was looking at a different line about non-registered guests only being able to use the certs in N. America.

Still, looking at a room in Saigon ($436) for mid- late December would mean I only could stay 2 nights for 64,500 miles (costing me $320/night). Since I don't spend over $200 a night usually, I wouldn't want to use the cert there.

A better deal is early Dec in Hua Hin Thailand ($201) so a 3 night stay would be possible.

Does anybody know if the miles can be redeemed for transportation to/from an airport ? I could not find any information on that subject.

I have no personal experience, but my impression is that if you call them, they'll approve any reasonably travel-looking expense.

So, is the gift certs now the best deal the hotel points have increased?
I had been waiting for a mileage mistake airfare but not sure when that might occur.

Where do I purchase the gift certs if it is the best deal?

The $900 Hyatt, Fairmont & Ritz just went up to 64500 miles instead of 51500! And that's logged into my personal account. The biz account is still the ridiculous 180000.

Damn my indecision!

I received the same thing, 1 Ovation D Standard certificate. Called up Capital One and they said they are aware of the issue and will get back to me within 5 business days with their resolution. Will be interesting to see how they handle this...

I got my Disney hotel reimbursed under this card. I then tried to find a way to buy Disneyworld tickets and get them reimbursed as travel under my new Capital 1 card. The parks were the whole reason for the trip after all.

The park tix cost $1150 so I really needed to get them covered. I booked the tickets through a AAA travel agency, hoping that would work. But they still ended up on the statement as purchased from Disney and labeled as Entertainment. So I called up C1 and they quickly agreed to make it reimbursable. Wahoo! I'm going to Disneyworld thanks to Capital One.

I'm wondering if they will catch on or if this is something they allow as I would just keep doing it and end up with a $1,000 credit that I could use anywhere and get the travel redemption rate.

I noticed this too. I redeemed for a rental car last month. Today I had a second rental car to redeem, so I went online to do it and the system was allowing me to redeem for both rental cars (last month's plus the new one). Seems that you can redeem multiple times for the same travel transaction. ^

Pleasantly surprise to see that a hotel I had booked through Hotels.com could be partially redeemed online. I think it is looking at the charge as if I had purchased airline tickets (it is asking me how many tickets I purchased). Don't know if this is a glitch. I could have just reserved through the hotel itself and split the charges, but I had discount coupon that I could only use through Hotels.com. So now I can just split the redemption as I wish. Will redeem for half of what I paid as that was my original intention.

Maybe Cap1 really likes me, but my Hotels.com hotel reservation was categorized as "Other Travel" and yet I was able to do the redemption online. See my post #598 above.

Has any one contacted C1 to find out if the Fairmont or Raffles gift cards will come back at all? Or should I just go ahead to get the Hyatt cards instead? I did call the rewards desk and was told these things change all the time and they don't have a way to know...

Thought someone else here might be better informed than the agent I got.

I haven't taken the time to persue it with C1, but if that's what the agent told you, that's crappy service. If it's offered as a standard award, then they need to find a way to offer it consistently instead of having it go in and out of inventory.

I'm sure many of us would appreciate clarity on this....
