pay rent by williampaid,
pay certain utilities and loans by chargesmart,
pay US federal taxes by providers listed at http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=101316,00.html (also there are often ways to pay state and local taxes by credit card either through these services or directly).

I did this a few months ago and it worked fine but have not looked at it lately. I'm sure if you search the forums here you will find more details and caveats. Good luck!

Checkout Amazon Payments. I believe it allows you to pay someone up to $1000/month from a CC with no fee. Could be a friend that just withdraws the cash and gives it back to you to pay the bill.

Over the years I have seen more than one student get into trouble with CC, buying buddies beers to chasing girls, the banks seem to give these out to anyone, even if they have no real income...
Seems the banks have in the past looked for a bail out.
Seems the airlines have looked for a bail out...
As the mile offers go higher, it should be fun, maybe we will have a flying crises...
I have a million miles, but no seats are open on the plane...seems no one will sell the airlines gas unless they pay in cash....
It is a fun game...I play it also...

Each program has its own terms. AA miles are expired after 18 months of last activity.
You don't have to be sorry for being a newbie. We were all new at one point. Just come often and you will learn a lot on your way!
By the way, trying to search before asking about common questions and answers, such as how long points or miles will last, is always recommended. That way you will get your answer right away instead of waiting for someone else to reply.

Welcome to FT! What a way to start.
When you go out with a bunch of friends, ask them to hand you the cash, and then use your credit card to pay of all of their purchases.
Buy a fully-refundable airline ticket. Then after the miles post, refund it. But continue in good faith to use the card until the credit hits $0. This trick works with other carriers; but check on the AA board to see if this works with your cAArier.
