Also for ~2.5%, there are services to pay many other major bills as a credit card purchases. There are flyertalk threads about each of these:

pay rent by williampaid,

pay certain utilities and loans by chargesmart,

pay US federal taxes by providers listed at http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=101316,00.html (also there are often ways to pay state and local taxes by credit card either through these services or directly).
